Now that we have a trailer the idea of buying recreational property has resurfaced. BT (before trailer) we figured we'd never use raw land and buying something with a cabin seemed seemed the only route given current construction costs and time to devote to a project that was some distance from work and home.
Now the idea is with limited to no work we could have a place to stay while locking in land values that only show signs of pricing it out of reach in the not so distant future. Other incentives are it would likely increase the amount of use we get out of the trailer. Not only would it be used at the property but the location would be such that it would be half way (and on the right side of the mountains) to where we're most likely to be going. And of course getting it out of the yard has some appeal. Not that I don't think it adds to the character of the neighborhood but some neighbors might see it differently
The idea that we'd be using the land in conjuction with the trailer places some limitations and also opens other possibilities. What sort of rekindled the idea were a couple of ads in one of the free RV magazines for "deeded property" at these two places:

Both look nice but neither is in a location that works for us. In general I'd be interested to know of folks experience or just reactions to owning an RV site and/or memberships that include extended "free" stays. If anyone knows of something east of the mountains near Cle Elum that has deeded lots I'd love to hear about it. High snoot resorts like Suncadia are out of the question both because of covenants and price. Of the places we've looked at Sky Meadows Ranch is most intriguing:

Other places are Sunlight Waters (less ideal but cheaper) and Driftwood Acres which is very nice but more expensive (funny how htat works
). Actually Driftwood Acres has several lots that according to their webpage "will never have water" which might make them relatively cheap RV parking.
So, wha 'da ya'll think about an aluminum log cabin
.
