RV Hall of Fame in Financial Trouble

This was sent to me via email from one of the Vintage groups a few days ago.
RV hall of fame faces financial ruination (video)
It’s an interesting place to visit with well put together displays. It would be disappointing to see it close.

Tom.

Unhappy

This is a sad state of affairs ...Lynn and I were among the 55,000 visitors last year to the RV/MH Hall of Fame. It is a wonderful museum-housing an early Bowlus, and an Airstream section including the famed Der Klein Prinz. We enjoyed it thoroughly- it was one highlight of a trip that included among other things driving 140 miles on historic Route 66 in our old Corvair van.

Hopefully they will find a good financial solution to the problems and save the venue. I would encourage any and all of you to stop in and see the museum.

Ben

We visited in '09. Nice, but probably not something I'd do again (except that I accidentally deleted most of the pictures from it, so maybe I would go again...).

RV Hall of Fame

What Airstreamers and Tin Can Tourists could do to help is Get in touch with The RV Hall of Fame, See if they could maybe have one of their rallys there. I live in South Bend and being an avid airstream ( 1971 Globetrotter) a Shasta, and a another little cutie. I would hate to see this wonderful place go belly up. Don't you guys do fund raisers or anything like that? Spread the word and give them a hand.

if you hold a rally there make sure it is either the right time of the year or you have huge generators. Not a tree within a mile and hot as hades the day we were there. Our plan was to do a wagon wheel overnight with 14 Airstreams, but it was too hot to be in a parking lot.

This is so disappointing. It's a worthwhile place to visit, and hopefully a solution can be found.

I don't want to sound at all like I'm piling on with doom and gloom, but walking through on a weekday afternoon last year, I was the only one there and couldn't help but feel like between the 2 story rotunda and the spacing between the trailers... that it's a far bigger place than is warranted. That goes for both the size of the collection, and the number of potential visitors.

It'd be tough to pull in the kinds of crowds even in a huge city, unfortunately - and it may have been just a matter of time until they ran into trouble with a big building (and relatively small crowd) in Elkhart.

Again - not trying to be a nay-sayer, and hope a solution can be found. I love the idea of having a rally there. Maybe others will have some good ideas. They'll probably have to try more permanent fixes, too - like a Fri-Sun schedule or something.
