Siverhoot,

Better watch out. Us guys with Tundra's and 68 T.Winds have to be careful and not reveal too many of our secrets.

HiHiAgRV, Silverhoot came from 'hoot', 'hoot' being slang for fun or good time, as in "what a hoot!"

1. What's your favorite kind of read?
2. What kind of music do you like? If you could score free front row seats to any concert, in any time period, who would the headliner be?
3. How did you become an Airstream fan?

Silverhoot, Kevin

You gotta be kidding about never taking a trip with your TW. What do you do? Camp in the back yard?

On the other hand my brother has a beautiful 1960 Pacer that he has owned for about 5 years. I think he has only camped a few days in it.
Go figure. I talked him into bringing the Pacer to the Metro Detroit rally last August, about 5 miles from his home. I slept in the Pacer, he went home and slept in his bed. I don't understand.

1. Had our Airstream about 18 month's now and had a 1963 Silver Streak Sabre before that. Got the SS gutted and rear portion of the floor removed when I found the Tradewind. Found this forum when researching the SS and wished that I had an AS instead, mainly due to more parts and information available.

2. Plans are for a complete renovation, still have lots left to do.

3. One of our daughters live in Vermont with our grandchildren so would like to be closer. Vermont though, is too expensive. We went to Greenville, SC and loved it so our goal is to move there.

I have a tendency to find needy trailers that are "uncampable" and I guess I have airstream attention deficit disorder cant focus on just one. But I do have hopes for an aluminum tent by spring.

1. Well my favorite reads(beside the AS Forum) like my music change. I read mostly mysteries, with various nonfiction interspersed.

2. My musical taste runs the gamut depending on mood. Here's a few artists I enjoy in no particular order: Diana Krall, Mark Knopfler, Melody Gardot, Alison Krauss, Buddy Guy, April Barrows, Dave Matthews, Carney, Jack Johnson, KT Tunstall, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline, Simply Red, Morphine, johnny A, Maroon 5, Dead Weather, Deborah Coleman, Midori, Yo-Yo Ma, UB40, jeez I better stop now. Blues, jazz, rock, alternative, classical, country, cajun, no rap.

Band from the past that I would have like to have seen live would be the Beatles and Elvis in his early years. Current artist would be Alison Krauss, Diana Krall or Melody Gardot.

3. I have always liked the look of an Airstream. Was actually at an alignment shop with my FJ40 and there was the Silver Streak for sale on the bulletin board...that's how it started.

Mine required quite a bit of work and am in process of complete renovation. I hope like Kevin to have at the very least a silver tent with bathroom by summer.

1. What's the hardest thing so far about your restoration?

2. Did you accidentally omit "Bad Manners" from your music list? :P

3. Are you restoring your AS to original condition, or refurbishing it with a few "liberties/improvements" - and if so, why?

1. Tossup between scooting around in the dirt painting the frame and replacing rear underbelly corner skin.

2. Was not familiar with Bad Manners just listened to a couple of recordings that sounded live but were not of good quality. They did sound like they are a band to see live and probably a lot of fun. BTW, my list was no where near complete.

3. I don't consider what I am doing as a 'restore'. A renovation is is what I would call it. I will be taking many liberties, among them: changing floor plan, appliances, added grey tank, LED lighting, sound system, tank monitors, etc. Only dollars will constrain what we do. We essentially want all new modern conveniences in an old iconic classic shell.
