Have you ever wondered about some of our fellow AirForums members.... the people behind the Airstreams? What riveting tidbits of unrelated information lurk behind their aluminum focused posts?

Here's an idea for a new twist on the game of "TAG", think of it as a way to get to know some of our fellow AirForums family members better... not just their Airstream toys, but the actual people behind the toys. So here's how it goes - a member will be tagged "IT" and will be put in front of us fellow members to answer "off topic" questions we would like to know about them. When the questions taper off and no new questions are posted for 48 hours, a new person will be tagged "IT" by the current interviewee. Like the photo contest threads, this is intended as a sort of round robin, loosely organized, interview.

During the interviewee's turn, they will not only be answering questions, but they will be thinking of who they want to "TAG" as the next interviewee. All "Riveting Tidbits About..." candidates should be asked beforehand and will have to agree to their being tagged prior to being announced. But, to be fair, by posting questions, you may also be considered to be "IT" in the next round!

When the series of questions have run their course, this member's thread will be closed and a new thread announcing the next "Riveting Tidbits About..." member to be questioned will be started by the interviewee.

Of course, all questions asked must fall within the AirForums already established rules and guidelines and there is no obligation to answer overly prying questions ....but this could be a fun way to make it through the long, cold winter months. Let's see how it goes!

1. What do you like to do to relax that is NOT Airstream related?

2. List 2 things folks would be surprised to find in your Airstream. Why are they there?

3. What's the most dangerous thing you've ever done?

Okay, this could be fun...or really embarrassing!

Here goes nothing ~

1. What do you like to do to relax that is NOT Airstream related?

Boy Janet, starting off with a tough one, huh!?! The last three years about all we have done in our free time is work on our Airstreams and Lord knows that's not always relaxing! But, I really enjoy spending time napping on the beach under a grass umbrella (or beside a creek or on a lake) with an adult beverage, a marlin sandwich and a good book. I love the water! Logging hours & hours on the beach is the one thing I miss about SoCal having been landlocked CO since '93.

2. List 2 things folks would be surprised to find in your Airstream. Why are they there?

1. A True Crime book. I don't ever read fictional crime stories - truth is always stranger than fiction. Ann Rule is my favorite author.
2. Way too many pairs of shoes! I love shoes and always take more than I can possibly wear on a trip.

3. What's the most dangerous thing you've ever done?

Either para-sailing in Mexico behind a rickety boat or skiing without a map on double black diamonds & in the back country with my brother in Aspen/Snowmass - he's actually survived an avalanche! Glad I wasn't with him that day. I really don't live a very dangerous life…

Really? Seems that answering these questions might qualify

Yes, I think back to when we first got Maxwell. There were a couple of bucked rivets by the door that were accesible from both sides but had been replaced with pop rivets by the previous owner. They were oversized, ugly steel ones at that! They were a real eyesore. So being the wet-behind-the-ears, Airstream novices that we were, we actually paid someone (an airplane mechanic we found through a friend of a friend) $5 per rivet to replace them with the appropriate bucked rivets! Some friend…can you say suckers!?! Since then, we have had lots of experience bucking our own rivets…sure wish I could have been paid $5 a piece for them all!

2. Do you have any hobbies?

I make jewelry…using gold, silver & semi-precious stones. Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to spend in my studio lately...

3. What places would you especially like to travel to?

Greece & Italy

Mostly in Orange County, California. I went to Dana Hills High School in Dana Point.

I am a commericial interior designer and work for an architectural firm in Golden, CO

Growing up, I recall seeing the original Santa Fe Springs factory as a little girl and my dad always commenting that "those are the best trailers ever made" everytime we'd drive by. Fast forward, 35+ years…when my husband & I would go on road trips, we would always count all the Airstreams on the road and in peoples backyards o pass the time. We always said "someday…". What's your favorite type of music?

I love Van Morrison, Wendy Woo, Trailer Park Troubadours and old-time country - not the pop stuff that's called country now, basically a little bit of everything, but I'm really up to date with much current music.

Do you have a favorite song?

A favorite…no. I have different favorites for different moods, occasions, etc.

Are there any places in the world you have dreamed about visiting but have not made it yet?

I will find and adventure anywhere I go - unfortunately my dreams are bigger than my pocketbook!

Nope. I moved by choice and love the seasons we have here. I really don't miss CA much except for the beaches. The lifestyle is pretty casual in both places, but I did "have to" get more shoes here ~ you can't wear flip-flops in the winter here.

Got to ask: even though you have two cool vintage trailers, were/are you ever tempted (especially as restoration effort and $ piled up) to just get a new(er) one?

Boy Frank, another tuffy! The thing is, we aren't pros, so everything was a first time experience. Yeah, somethings on Birdy were easier than when we did things on Maxwell, but as you know, each trailer is unique and something is to be learned from each one. I would say the thing that was the most scary going in and the most rewarding was replacing panels.

What do you wish you had done differently on your restoration(s)?Nothing I can think of.

How long have you had an Airstream?

We got our '64 GlobeTrotter in January of 2002. It was the first Airstream we had ever stepped foot in...we got lucky!

If you could have any Airstream ever built which would you choose and why?

I really like our '56 Safari...so unless I have the opportunity to buy Wally's gold trailer, there really isn't another one I would want. Why? The front kitchen layout is so unusual, I LOVE all the windows - it makes it so open & bright and it has tons of storage.

No. We like old things...although the year the rear entry models (I can't remember if it was 27' or 25', but it had the dinette in the back, black & gold stripes and dragonfly pillows and these cute little tail lights - I think it was a "Special Edition") came out, it caught my eye. I figure we have about 20 more years to wait until it's vintage.

It would be perfect for full-timing but it's much too large for our current lifestyle.
