Me too. On both accounts.

My mind behaves younger than 42, but my body behaves older.

Dave, at 42, do you consider yourself young?

I have a current student ID. I feel I'm still in the learning phase. I've succeeded at a lot of things and failed at a few too, and I have a fair grasp of what my life's probably going to be about.

I think everyone should go to their community college and sign up for one or two classes now and then. Be curious.

I know that on one hand that's not an answer to your question, but on the other, it is.

interesting post

Dave,
You nailed it on the head about the drivers here, flow and momentum, some people have never heard of it I think. I like to drive fast, the speed limits set here are always about 10 MPH too low, (not main street USA) country roads, highways, interstates. The problem is alot of people are just sitting behind the wheel asleep. They think nothing of slowing you down by pulling out in front of you, but in the same breath, if I am on a street where traffic is slow, they don't pay enough attention to see me wave them into the flow, my rule is if I wave you in twice, and you don't see me or respond, I continue ahead. I don't understand why so many people are brake happy either, if they used the gas pedal as much as the brake, we might atchieve flow!. I fully belive you can drive fast, and be safe. Too many distractions these days, I guess.
In keeping with the thread, what do you miss most from England? MPJ

Music

1. Do you play any musical instruments?
2. Who is your favorite band?
3. Do you have a band or artist you enjoy that you find most people haven't heard of?

Not any more. I used to play keyboard in a band, but an arm injury in my car accident in 1994 took away my finger dexterity.

iTunes tells me the band I have listened to most is the one I was in, and a track called "Swing Time" but for other bands, it lists Talk Talk. I am very much a child of the 80s, musically. U2, Simple Minds, Depeche Mode, Talk Talk, Howard Jones (who I used to see play live in my local pub before he got famous), Duran Duran, Human League, Pet Shop Boys, etc...

Colin Hay. He was the lead singer of Men at Work in the 80s. He's since gone on to a wonderful solo. He was the guitarist who would randomly follow JD around in Scrubs.

I think it will be a sporting success.

The new track will draw a huge amount of obstruction, business, technology and sports fans to Austin, bringing in far more tax revenue than is being given as a subsidy to attract the venue here.

However, the prevalent local mentality of NIMBY and not wanting to invest even a relatively modest amount to bring such a great facility and reputation to the town... It's no different than the tax incentives that were used to attract Dell, Intel, AMD, the games companies, etc. People act like it's THEIR taxpayer's one, but they forget that the taxpayers at this track will be 90% from out of state, and that it will be a net revenue to the region.

I honestly think that there's also a begrudging acknowledgment that Formula 1 shows up NASCAR for the "redneckian" sport that it is, and the locals are exhibiting a sort of "reverse-snobbery" about it.

1. If you had 6 months to travel and reasonable funds to help, where would you go?

2. What's your take on the US fascination with the affairs of British Royals?
