Respect.

I'm not going to comment on the people in the first class cabins behaviour; I'm only going to state my condolences for your loss and to thank you son for his service to his brothers in arms and his country.

We in Canada have the Highway of Heroes from Trenton AFB to Toronto. It's something to see the turn out of civilians and first responders on every overpass when one of our fallen returns home.

Cheers
Tony

Man it sure is hard to hear of these parents being treated that way.
I just don't get what the other passengers were thinking.
Shades of post Vietnam Nam?

So few serve now, most live as if there is nothing going on in the world requiring our service folk to be in harms way.

I would think the opportunity to show some respect directly to the family would be appreciated.

Cheers Richard

The story of how these parents returning from Afghanistan were treated makes me incredibly mad, sad, and ill.

As one who served in the Vietnam era, but not in Vietnam, I was glad to see the way our recently returning service men and women were treated until this. Too many today do not realize the truth of the saying that "freedom isn't free." We may not agree with the policies that put them there, but we should support those who step up.

The dad said it was the first class cabin booing - as if they paid to not have to suffer the indignity of having the "riff-raff" exit the plane before they do.

No one feels shame anymore.

Ugh.

My heart goes out to the Perry family....and to all who have family who served and made the ultimate sacrifice! I am utterly disgusted of the behavior of those who behaved in such a deplorable and disrespectful way! There is no excuse for ignorance!

As a member of a military family, I am very grateful to all who serve and give of themselves to protect our way of life. We live in a troubled world today. For every brave man or woman who step forward to protect our countries....there are hundreds of COWARDS! A few of those unfeeling self serving COWARDLY IDIOTS were obviously on that plane that day!

GOD BLESS THOSE WHO SERVE TO PROTECT OUR COUNTRIES.....IN THE MILITARY AND POLICE! I THANK YOU ALL! Evelyn.

I served, 1968-1972, figure it out. I was also not welcomed by many in our country.

I cannot express my unmitigated rage at these people who reportedly booed the parents. I've seen this behavior in the past and I reacted with the same rage I feel now. I berated the people, yelled at them and in turn I was thrown off the plane, but allowed back on in short order. When I got back on the people who booed would not look me in the eye, and the two Air Marshals sitting in First and the one seven rows back in coach smiled as did the flight attendant.

As I age my patience has improved, but not my tolerance for any disrespect shown for the 1% who serve as well as all First Responders.

Dear Madam,

I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln.

Yes, beautifully written. That was from back when people knew how to express themselves in writing.

That was also quoted in Saving Private Ryan.

Have a niece who served. She is the only member of our direct family who has made this commitment to our country. She joined the Guard and did her duty both in and outside the US. When she attended one college, she felt very uncomfortable. It had a significant emotional impact which negatively effected her life experience. Moving to a different university when she returned made a considerable difference. Being upset with the policy of our government is one thing. Showing disrespect for those who serve our country is something completely different and is not appropriate under any circumstances. My sincere condolences to the parents and to anyone else who has experienced this treatment. Pat
