Now this is the kind of stuff I love. That array is cooler than Jerry Garcia in his prime. Please tell me where it is. I gotta go at least once. I will bring chittlins and cabbage and make sure everybody gets at least a quart of Oertel's 92. When everything around you smells like your sox, life is so much easier. BTW...I'm thinking that base unit belongs to Donald Trump. Let me know.

I'm guessing it's in Photoshop City. That's on the highway on the way out of Changedville.

Guessing, I say...

I have seen this photo now a few times. Each time red neck or hillbilly comes into the descriptive. No one ever takes notice of the obviously European trailers in the photo. Now it is confirmed.

This is one I personally saw on the way to Avery Island LA. I am especially fond of the spare tire still bolted on.

Being about 70% redneck, I can tell you we do not stand for any darn condo fees.

"Redneck" House

And here's some pictures of a "redneck" house made from shipping containers which clearly shows a redneck approach to housing on a limited budget.

I think it's wonderful and a great use of limited financial resources. My brother and I have two apartments made from shipping containers currently under construction on the Warrior River in Alabama and this is the level of quality that I'm shooting for.

Shipping containers (sea cans) are all over the place on design, eco and other websites. Some DIY, some factory.

Good luck on getting it together well!

Tweek the roof height and width, and you have the perfect Airstream hanger! BTW, ran across this website regarding container homes:http://www.containerhome.info/non-me...utorial-9.html

Thanks for the site. I bought a couple of 8' x 8' x 40' shipping containers about 7 years ago for storage, and even put a small workshop in the end of one. I've often wanted to do something similar to your picture for my Bambi, but now they're practically full, and I will have to take out a lot of trees in order to separate them. It's still on the pending projects list.

They're not beautiful, but are very durable, inexpensive storage, no building permits required, and should I ever decide to get rid of them, they're now worth about as much in scrap metal as I paid for them. Insulation and ventilation are essential as you could almost bake bread in them in the summer. But they make great landmarks if you're looking for your house by satellite picture.

Our river mansion

Here's a similar design to the apartments that we're building on the river, though we're using 8½'x48' rail containers instead of the 8'x20' containers in the photo so we have quite a bit more floor space. Our central breezeway has a 14'x48' deck which will be fully screened because we intend to spend a lot of time outdoors.

We've got our foundation piers in the ground now and we already have I-beams on-site to span across the rows of piers for supporting the containers. Next spring we'll have a crane out to the lot to set the containers and we can begin the interior fit out since we already have our driveway and pad built, water and a septic system are done and the electrical hookup is coming. We'll probably build the roof for shade last because the containers are already water tight.

And here's a floor plan which I think will work out for my apartment. Notice the similarity to an Excella 34' (including a settee).
