No no, wild dolphins. They are a pretty rolicking bunch. They seem to have a lot of fun. don't have to go to work, and according to some scientist fellow are the only animals other than humans who have sex for fun.

Watching the Winter X Games... Man, those kids can fly! They had a 14 year old girl win the women's snowboard half pipe. Somewhere during the competition the kid face planted, chipped a tooth, and still won the gold. Incredible performance. She was about to be beat out by a girl with the last run of the day, huge air, big stunts, and then lands on her butt on her last stunt...

-Red, feeling older every day...

Yeah, I put together a new skateboard, hit the half pipe, and found out why fat fifty year olds don't belong on skateboards... Amazing how hard you fall after fifty. I've got to work on this. How do I get 35 back?

The best way to regain that youthful feeling is to hang out with people who are even older and more decrepit than you are!

Pity it doesn't always work, though. This past week, I traveled with a couple— he was in his eighties, and she was in her seventies. They wore me out! I've never felt so old and feeble…

They (nearly everyone from DW to doctors, health care profesionals, and fitness nuts) tell me to lose weight, work out, get new knees and hips, and change my life and everything I do. Did I mention diet and exercise? Lots of exercise? Did I mention eating only fruits and leaves?

I've decided that I like me, the way that I am.

My wife's grandparents used to go to nursing homes and play music for "those old people" as her grandpa put it. He was in his eighties at the time. They traveled all over in this old camper they owned. Hope I'm getting it that good when I get there...

Back in the 1700s there was a French philosopher and author named Voltaire.

One of his philosophical sayings was that "There are some vices that are worth shortening your life for."

Another was, "Every man is entitled to choose his own vices."

I've heard it said— by folks who aren't philosophers— that "Every hour you exercise adds an hour to your lifespan." I have no idea how they came up with that; no one really knows what his or her lifespan would have been if they made other choices.

But also, if your extra hours of life are just the hours you spent doing tedious exercise, then you've just only hours of tedium to your life, and who needs that? Now if they'd say— and be able to prove— that every hour of exercise adds two hours to your life, there would be a net benefit and I'd spend more hours exercising to get more hours for the fun things in life.

I'm actually pretty happy with where I'm at... It's that fat bastard in the mirror I don't like. If I was in as good shape in reality as I am in my head, I'd go shirtless and flex a lot more. And, I eat plenty of fruits and leaves, if I leave room on the plate next to the big old steak I'm going to eat.

My PCP told me to watch my waistline, so I had to get it out where I could see it.

I went to see my doctor.. You know my doctor, Dr Vinnie Boombatz? He said, "Red, you're overweight, have high blood pressure, and are going to die soon if you don't quit drinking so much!" I said, "Doc, I want a second opinion!" He said, "OK, you're ugly too!" I'm telling you, no respect...

-Red, I'll be here all week...
