Diego, thank you for the link to Cheryl Anne's design wall. I've studied it carefully, but I think I want something hung up on my wall opposite my sewing table--and larger than her largest. I'd have room to hang either a queen or king flannel quilt covering insulation board (or other light but rigid material). Once I had the lead to CA's portable wall, I then found many other suggestions, including some neat "make your own" so I think that's the route I'll take. Now I'm wondering how to grid mark the flannel covering and thinking that may not be such a successful task to undertake. We'll see Thanks again. ~G

I think I'd like a fairly sedate chenille for sitting portions and trim, and do some quilting to make cushion covers for the backs. Just thinking. I'd like another gaucho in place of it for greater ease of making beds morning and evening. We tend to spend our meal times and cooking outdoors if weather is at all decent. I think if we had two folding tables, we'd be ok or eating indoors when it's necessary--or for end table, craft tables, and so on. I'd miss the dinette, but we'd soon grow to hate all the pieces and work of set up and take down twice a day. I love the sentiment of the pj quilt of your Grandpa's. I'm so sorry that your mom didn't get to see the finished quilt--or, maybe she has I finished a quilt for my mom just before she was hospitalized and came to live with us for her final year under hospice care. She loved that I'd made one for her. You'll love this momento of your grandfather too. Thanks for your help (above posts). ~G

Thanks, G. I think chenille would be a great choice - comfortable, yet durable. Quilted backs would be a nice touch, too. The dinette decision is a tough one. We, too, spend all our time outside, weather permitting. We'll just have to try it and see if we like sleeping on the gaucho better than the dinette area or not. Good luck with your decision.

I wish I had room in my sewing studio to mount a permanent one on my wall, but I don't. I wonder if you could stitch lines on your flannel before mounting it to the insulation board and use those for the grid lines. It might take awhile to do, but once it's done, the lines wouldn't fade or come off.

Diego, I love those upholstery fabrics! So rich looking. And the flannel quilt from PJs brings back memories of my dad's PJs in those fabrics. Great idea.

So, I know it's only February, but we start planning trips about now. We are registering for the 4 Corners Vintage Restoration Rally in June. Is anyone else from this thread going to be there? We could maybe sew together an afternoon when the guys are doing something grungy (not that I mind getting grungy, but, you know...).

I so wish, but no. I'd love to take our Argosy there, get some expert opinions on possibilities for improvements and so on. Lucky you. ~G

Well, here's what I've been up to my eyeballs doing -- a Web site for my longarm business. Please take a look & let me know whether it would draw you in. There are plenty of ways I plan to expand & improve the site, but for now it gets "me" across. Also, it shows off some of my work. My b'friend says it looks exactly like my quilts!

I used a jelly roll from the Punctuation Line. That was probably a 1930's.. American Jane.. maybe? My next projects are curtains to redo in A/S and a reupholstery job on the bedroom gaucho... Not much room for inspiration there..

Here is one of my favorite pieces -- one of the few I've kept rather than sold. I named it "The Borrowers Aloft" because something about the center reminded me of that much-loved old children's series.

Wow, such great talent! My mom is into quilting and I've always admired it but haven't a clue about sewing machines. I have a small collection of old old quilts. In the last few years I realized how amazing the new quilts have become- more abstract, look like paintings... Very interesting!
