Lois I bet your 7700 would sew that vinyl. I haven't found anything yet that mine won't sew easily. I'm going to try some pleather on it soon.

I see that many of you have a Janome Jem for light portable travel machines. I found the home page for this company, but I've been able to find no information on cost. Any idea of price of a new Jem travel machine and how to order one? Thanks, ~G

I called my local sewing center and got a price for the Jem Platnuim 760 of 599. and the gold jem 299. I am going to look at them this afternoon. (although hubby thinks I'm nuts, since I haven't been sewing at home lately) My home machine is a Janomoe 9000, and I love it. Susan

Lemme know how it works. I have leather needles, teflon, and roller feet, just didn't know if it would be too heavy on the motor.

Need to post some more projects on here guys! Im working on a scrappy Christmas Tree Skirt (quilt) right now, a great big one because every tree skirt I have ever seen is way too small. Will post pics as I go.

Took a look at the Gem's, the price they told me over the phone included 100 for a 3 yr extended warranty, free classes and a 20% store discount. So the platnuim was 499 and the anniversary model 399 without the added products. Also all of the feet for my 9000 can be used on the gem. Am still trying to convince RustyRivet, this is a needed item. Susan

Airstreams aren't the only thing you can polish! This is a Singer Featherweight that is completely polished. My wife also has one painted candy apple red and has the factory table.

Wow! That's a really cool machine! Now, who polished it, you or your wife?

I'm not sure

Not sure if it was my wife that mentioned the the civil war fabric, but she is just finishing (binding?) a quilt that she used civil war pattern fabrics on. I think it is my favorite so far will post a photo in next day or so.

Beautiful. Did you know you can purchase replacement decals on e-bay - though gold decals on a silver sewing machine - Well you'd look more at home in a Silver Streak than an Airstream.

There's a guy in Anaheim that started out painting FW's and he was having problems with the vender down south. I turned him on to a chopper builder in Orange County (California) that did exotic tank paint jobs. When I found out that the FW's were aluminum, I had him polish one for my wife. He usually has a booth at Road to California. His name is Les and he has a sewing machine collection that is fantastic. i have the decals, but why screw it up?

I am using a civil war era fabric on one of my quilts. At least I was told that Louisa from Moda was from that era.
