Reply to Laurel62 in reference to mini quilt: enjoy the project. Lots of little pieces but worth it in the end. Pattern is "On the Road" by MH designs. Think you will like the quilt shop site too. Mary😊

Hi! I just found this thread and am so excited. I do Yoyo quilts and always have a project with me when traveling. Always wanted to try piecing. Looking forward to the advice included in this thread. Sue

Mary, that is a very cute wall hanging! I have that pattern or a very similar one I've been meaning to do..... I love paper piecing and have done several projects. ( I tend to like to do what I call "insanity projects" as in I must be insane to try doing this.) Gotta find that pattern now...

Quilt in memory of Doug Hayes
Our community lost a very sweet guy this week. For those of you who knew Doug&Maggie, Doug passed away yesterday after having a heart attack.
Memorials are requested to the House of Hope that provided lodging for Magie and her family. She will put up more information later, but she said that she would love something for the Hope house in Doug's memory.
How about it Airstream quilters? Would anyone want to join in and make a quilt or 2 to send to the Hope house in memory of Doug?
Themes, colors etc. can all be figured out later when we have more info. I am just trying to see how many would like to participate now.

I will participate in a quilt for Doug. There is a website that has inspirational quotes in quilts: www.blockpartystudios.com. I did a "comfort of the psalms" wall hanging for the hospice house my mom was in and will deliver it to them when I am there this summer. Maybe something like that would be good?

Re: mini-quilt
"...Having done paper or foundation piecing before, I was able to alter the pattern pieces to transform the station wagon into a red pickup and change the trailer into a silver bullet. I did have some difficulty getting the pickup wheels to line up properly…"
VERY cute!…and JUST matches our red truck and camper; looks like it was made just for us!

So, I'm looking for ideas: I now have a designated storage spot for my sewing supplies in the trailer under the dinette seat. I have a Singer Featherweight machine that will fit nicely there. I also have an old old sewing box of my mothers (it even smells like her perfume inside) to pack most of my small supplies in. I made a small pressing mat that rolls up to use exclusively in the trailer. A friend suggested storing my cutting mat under the mattress, which makes sense. I'm making a list of things to buy that I don't have extras of so I can keep supplies in the trailer all the time.
Anyone have specific suggestions of supplies I should get that might be "off the wall" per say, but have come in handy? I have all the usual stuff... like my seam ripper (named "Jack"), scissors, thread, etc.
Thanks!
Kay

Quilting and Airstreams
I started a reply and lost it.. :-( had some problems with the app on my phone and with my email so I've gone from samyjam to samyjam14. Glad to be back!
I've been catching up on posts.
Sorry to read about the passing of Doug - what a lovely idea to make a memorial quilt!
Thanks for the nice comments on my elephant fabric.
I'm done putting together the quilt top for my very first quilt, and the elephant fabric wasn't quite fitting, so I'm making pillows with it.
I've done everything in the quilt by hand. I'm now in the process of tying it. Almost there! May use the sawing machine to finish border.
Edit as picture attachments didn't seem to work.. Will try under separate post..
Regards,
Mary
