Jezibels and Mrs Mod, those are very pretty quilts! Just moved my sewing room (again) back to the tiny alcove. No time to quilt in the summer, anyway!

Sorry to hear you downsized, Kay. I just moved my sewing corner to the spare bedroom.
Anyday now, I expect the arrival of my new......<drumroll please>......my new longarm quilting machine!!!! Crazy, right?????

I've been selling quilts on Etsy and locally for about 2 years now and I'm stepping up. I've received my resale number and I'll be selling Moda precuts in my Etsy shop too.

Ohhhh, a longarm! I wish... but no room and I probably wouldn't use one enough to make it worth my while. There's someone I know who has a business renting out her longarm for about $60 per hour. I can always do that if I get desperate. Eventually, I will be back in my big sewing room in the basement (13 x 20 ft) but for now it's a bedroom for my 2 grandchildren who live here. I gave up my sewing room for their parents (I keep reminding my daughter how much I must love her..). I'll still be able to crank out my quilts. I rarely sew much in the summer - too many projects outside, including trailer renovation!
I'm planning another Quilts of Valor call for quilt squares from everyone for this winter. I missed doing it last year, but now that I'm not working full time anymore I'll have more time to do it, or so the story goes.

So funny to hear that not much quilting goes on in the summer !! ...exactly opposite for me here! 108 degree weather keeps me inside more often, unless we are out seeking cooler temps!

So, to that end, I've been a busy bee working in the studio for work, charity and for me! Look at this cute fabric I HAD to get...and had to make something asap with!

Cute fabric! I garden and camp in the summer: it's -20F that keeps me inside sewing in the winter while you're out gallivanting around!

It's a Robert Kaufman Fabric. The "Roughing It" series. I found it at one of my LQSs here but I'm sure you can find it online. There are other camping and glamping fabrics

Sorry, hit a wrong button ...

To continue... There are many other camping type fabrics out there but this one seems to be the only one I've seen with an Airstream-like only camper featured.

My LQSS also has this red one in laminate!!! Hmmmmm... (Quilters Ranch in Tempe, AZ)

If you have trouble finding it, let me know if I can help

B

Quilting projects??

How are all your quilting projects coming along? Do you have any finishes to post since this summertime?

I entered the quilt shown in the Iron Quilter II competition, there are over 450 quilts in the contest. We had to use a charm pack purchased from Missouri Star Quilt Co. and that was the only requirement. Its a charm pack with mostly purple and black florals, I purchased 4 charm packs for my quilt and used fabrics from my stash.

You can vote for any quilt, including mine by "liking" the quilts you like, each like counts as one vote. The top prize is a new sewing machine! The 1st round of voting ends on Dec 8th.

Here is the Facebook link:

Or if you are not on facebook they provided a google plus linky:

https://plus.google.com/photos/+Miss...42715082642513

Go check them all out, there is a lot of inspiration there and post pics of your WIP or finishes!

Jez,

BEAUTIFUL quilt! and hand quilted! woah! I really "liked" it. Missouri Quilts send emails everyday, didn't know they have challenges! Something to look into. Been busy sewing as usual, but thought I'd share something I whipped up while procrastinating on real work. Something for our new years rally. But honestly, the knit combined with the minty is really cozy! I picked up the knit a while ago as a major sale thinking I would make a shirt or something - never did.

happy holidays!

Greetings, quilters!!

I ordered some fabric online last night to make quilts for the twin beds in the AS.
i also want to use some fabric from a flat sheet I have (white with orange polka dots in picture), and some fabric with the elephant and AS, in a smaller scale.

I've never made a quilt in my life, nor do I have a lot of experience with machine sewing (I've made some curtains).

I need something easy, and was thinking that once I have the quilt together, I'll just hand tie it.
I'm including a picture of a quilt from Pinterest - does it look easy enough to you quilters?

Any recommendations for an easy peasy quilt? Thoughts on hand tying?
Or any thoughts on cost of having someone quilt it for me?
I was thinking of using a flannel sheet for the back and no batting.

Thank you! Mary
