The repainted color is wonderful. If this was not an original color, then it should have been! Mine is the original black and was in pristine condition until sadly I spoiled it. I stored it near my iron which leaked and did damage to the enamel finish. I suppose I could send it off to have it repaired, but I use it too much to have it unavailable. To say that I'm totally smitten with the usable little Featherweight just doesn't say it well enough ~G

My featherweight was in pristine condition and now has pin scratches on it. It is hard for me NOT to scratch it, although I try hard to keep it in great condition. The gold scrolly bands are scratched up too. But I want to use it more than I want it in perfect condition. My consolation is that there are businesses out there that will refinish featherweights. I might go with a wild color someday like I have seen at quilt shows.

I am planning on making a log cabin quilt on the road this summer with the featherweight. We will be out for 6 weeks and I just don't think I can be away from sewing that long. I will cut the strips before I go and sew the blocks on the road.

Wonderful, Caryl. Your reality this summer is my dream. We'll have two weeks on the shores of Lake Superior this summer and I'll have my Featherweight on the cobble beach with me, but my goal is six weeks of open roads, my hubby and my Featherweight by my side! Enjoy your trip ~G

Georgia,

Our trip will likely start in Bayfield or Duluth. PM me with your dates and location, and perhaps we can take our picture together with the Featherweights. Two weeks on Lake Superior will be wonderful for you. We are not staying that long but wanted to see that section of Lake Superior before we head West.

You'll be near my neck of the woods. If you swing thru the Twin Cities and need a place to stay, we have water and elec! With 4 RVs in the yard, our younger son says it already looks like a campground........ One of them is his, but I haven't been able to collect daily fees from him yet!

We'll be in the municipal campground on the harbor in Grand Marais July 1-15. We've been spending some summer time there for about 25 years--never enough time though. Crowning the drive down into Duluth and feeling that first rush of cool Superior air has brought us back year after year, such relief from the heat and humidity of Missouri. I think we'll overnight on the way up at the Lakehead Basin in Duluth before taking the NorthShore Drive on up to GM. I'll be bringing the Featherweight along so a photo shoot would be fun This reminds me that it's time to dewinterize, check Gypsy's systems and tires, begin provisioning...I just can't wait! We'd hoped to have our little Argosy ready for the road this summer, but I've procrastinated and have nothing done toward bringing her up to road worthy. ~G

*Love the name Quiltair
*The generator cover is fab.
*Of all the beautiful quilts here I like the ones that are reflected in the "stream. Not they the others are not as beautiful, I just like the AS in the background.
*I am dying to see what Diego's cushions will look like with the new material. (I am pretty sure it is Diego...hopefully)
* I would be good for several blocks if we get that idea together.

My name is Missy and I have been quilting for a little over a year. We live full time in a SOB that is parked at the Grand Canyon. I currently have a truck camper that we "play" in but it is going on the market tomorrow so we can get another AS. I have been avoiding the forums since we sold our old rig but can't handle it any longer.

I am glad to be back and glad to know that I already have a featherweight to take in my future to me new rig.

Missy
Wait no longer, Missy. My goal was to get them finished for Alumapalooza and that starts tomorrow! Here's the new do...

Super job Diego!

Super super job! I know how making covers to cushions goes, it can be daunting at times, especially when it comes time to stuff the foam inside; )

That is the only way I get anything done, if i have a deadline ; )

We are now altering our plans due to the flooding on the Missouri River. We are likely to take a more southerly route (although even that may not help. That Missouri is one long river!) That will take us away from Lake Superior this season so we can avoid N. Dakota and the flooding. Seems like everywhere I look there is flooding that is predicted to last for a long time. Perhaps next year we can take the Lake Superior Circle Tour. I have always wanted to do that.

@Lana (Diego). I will say again. Your taste in fabric is extraordinary and I love, love, love the cushions, pillow and curtains.

This is BEAUTIFUL!!!

It also addresses the question I may have asked before, but cannot find in the discussion: in addition to Diego and me, are any others from this forum going to be at Alumapalooza, and if so, can we swing a way to get together?

Confession time - all the talk about Singer Featherweights refreshed my long-time goal to someday have one of these machines. Last Friday, I just happened to check our local Craigs List for featherweights (yet again), found a white one in pristine condition for an unbelievable price, and picked it up on Saturday. Spent Sunday playing with my new toy, and it is DEFINITELY coming to Alumapalooza and all further Airstream travel from now on!
