Here is a resource I stumbled onto on another blog, Connecting Threads, check out their clearance fabric prices, clearance kits (I love the fishy one) and their thread prices. Has anyone heard of them? I have never ordered from them but will pretty soon.

Closeout Kits from ConnectingThreads.com

I've never worked with wool. Well, I take that back - I made a wool skirt in high school home ec. How does it work for quilting? Simpler designs than what you can do in cotton?

I've only done one and it was just a large piece of wool folded in half and tied with yarn (per the owner's request). I am planning either sewing the strips together or squares. It really depends on what the remainders look like when they arrive.

I am going to bind my friends baby quilt tomorrow. Does that count? I have plenty of projects going, but right now none of them are quilt related. I have a huge piece of black fabric to make something to cover part of the stage at chuch. That has to be done by the end of this week. Very easy but boring. Teenagers coat is coming along, just waiting for her to get one more embroidery design ready for the other pocket, then we can finish putting it together. Scarf is finished so now I am starting to knit some socks. I love knitting for portable projects. It is great for all the time I spend driving the kid around and waiting for her.

Wow!

There are some very talented quilters on this thread.

There are several reasonably priced Featherweights on E-Bay right now. Of course they may go for big bucks. I've bought 3 from E-Bay and never had a problem. Watch for rust and ask the dealer if you are unsure of their explanations. One of them up for bid now has the wrong foot pedal and I can't see the end of the cord to see if it has been retrofitted. A couple of them have slight rust problems, but there are 3 or 4 really nice ones.

I have bought and continue to buy from Connecting Threads. Quality of the fabric is not quite what you would get in a quilt shop, per se, but good. And the prices are very good! I have done several kits from them: one a twin sized quilt, and several table runners. I have gotten plenty of fabric to work with and the directions are decent. The fabrics wash well, and have been colorfast, since I do not tend to prewash my fabrics.

On a side note: I need to make two Christmas quilts for gifts...and I have not even started to piece them but at least I have all my fabrics cut.

I am working on a Snowman Collector Quilt for my best friend for Christmas. I'll post pics when finished.

And I got over my fear of scratching off the decals too when my husband pointed out "If the paint and decals chip off, I'll paint it silver or polish it up to match the Airstream".

And I finally redid the front gaucho covers. Let me just say, "

Paula you are so right about the plastic sewing machines!"

I am now on the look out for the 306K. Then I can banish the 9410 to Goodwill.....
I need to get my Featherweight out and get to know it! Thanks for the inspiration. I know I need bobbins. Where do you find the correct bobbins for a Featherweight?

I sent an email to Pendleton to ask them some questions. They said the sample cards are extremely rare but they get shipments in of the other options almost weekly. I then called them to order the material. I am going to make 3 of them for our A/S.... something else to combat the cold nights.
I love plaids. This looks like fun!

Ebay has them, just do a search "singer 221 bobbin". You can get a dozen for a couple of bucks. Your local singer service center has them, most sewing machine repair centers will carry them too. They are very common. If you have ONE good one you can usually match them to something in the big box sewing stores too.

Here's 100 if you want that many!

I found my extra bobbins at a craft store, AC Moore I think, but I am sure others have it. I just found this...
