...I believe a lot of people have gained something through your willingness to share this last journey with Doug, Maggie. Almost 20,000 people have viewed this thread. I suspect many of them look at their significant others just a bit differently and perhaps more lovingly. This has been a gift from you and Doug to all of us. Lots of love, Barry

BAB, that is so true. So many people touched by this painful, sad, heartbreaking journey. Thank you for sharing a most private time with us.

It is good to hear that everything that had to be done is over and you are ok. It WILL be different.

I want to also mention about family members and their "lack" that you mentioned. Love them Maggie in spite of whatever may be.

In late December my grandmother passed away. Although a different situation I mention this as it broke my father's heart. He was disowned (when he became a Christian) and wanted to go but had such a time at his father's funeral in '07 that he knew it would only cause anger . He said to me more than once, "what sort of son would not go to his mother's funeral?" I could not answer that question but I knew he was troubled and it made him face a rejection of him anew. I realize that there is always strife in families but love can truly bring people together. As people get older sometimes they begin to value relationships more, time more, etc. It is my prayer to you and your family that all of you heal and celebrate Doug's life together. As BAB said- 20K people have shared your recent journey. You have shown us another GOOD use of a forum!

So true, so true. Thank you BAB.

Maggie, I've followed this journey of yours quietly and from afar. Thank you for sharing with the rest of us, as you always have. It touches deeply.

Maggie,

Been following and many have said better words than I can right now. So just a hello, you did great for Doug, yourself and your Airstream family.

Thank you all for your kind words and tremendous support.

If you google Grace Hill Moravian Church & Cemetery in Washington, Iowa, this thread comes up....also Doug's obituary photo. blush:

I think it is fitting, now, that we close this thread and leave it as a memorial to a good man who loved his Airstream Interstate and all that 147,000 miles traveling around this great country involved.

Rest in peace, sweet hubby.

Maggie
