Fries, cheese, & gravy, Oh My!

Yes, it's fairly common in Canada (our son loves it) AND it will raise your cholesterol count 4000 points!

There is absolutely no calories in this though. You can eat it three times and day and you won't put a pound on . Dangerous stuff....

OK, I give up. What the heck is POUTINE??? The word sounds like some new miracle drug for the treatment warts. Haven't I seen this advertised on TV with all the other prescription drugs.

poutine is about french fries, with cheese and sauce. There is different version of it. It's an heavy duty meal. Helpful in winter.

Poutine

Come to New Hampshire and eat at any of the French restaurants and you will be able to eat all the poutine you want. Gauranteed to get dizzy from the nourishment.

Pronounced

Putzine

Love poutine! Fortunately for my waistline, it isn't readily available where I live!

The version I had: French fries smothered w/brown gravy and mixed w/marble cheese...marble cheese included shredded jack and cheddar.

I googled poutine: favorite food of Quebec folks ..cheese curds used in some recipes..here's a pic of what I had ..my impression: a little like having crispy mashed potatoes and gravy

One of our Canadian comedians is famous for cornering Bush on the campaign trail and asking him what he thought of the Canadian Prime Minister (at the time) Jean Poutine. Mr Bush bafflegabbed his way through the interview and said what a great guy he was. Turns out his name wasn't Poutine, but Cretien. Gotta love it.
By the way, there is a Canadian gene called the Poutine gene. You have to stop and have a dose of fries, cheese and gravy every month or so just to keep you metabolism on an even keel. Must be something to do with the depth of the snow on the Airstream.

I almost sorry that I asked what Poutine was; it sure sounds like something that I would like very much. Since I am a long way from Canada, would someone please post a recipe or instructions to make some "putzine".

Hey cb! After all that poutine, did you have to hit the CAT scales to readjust your WD hitch settings?

Poutine is a staple around these here parts. In fact, McDonald's sells poutine at select Quebec locations. Not great, but it's poutine nonetheless.

I like it with a bit of vinegar sprinkled on. And it's got to be made with cheese curds of course!!

Poutine (pronounced Poo-teen around here) is also very common in this part of Canada.I love it but my stomach doesn't.
