I love poutine
I spent two years in Quebec back in the late 80's and it is then that I fell in love with poutine. My business took me back to Montreal several times a year but that was too long ago so it's been about 15 years that I've bogged down my system with a wonderful plate of poutine.
We tried making our own, but the brown gravy isn't your typical brown gravy that is sold here in the states.
I may have to make a trip up north to get my fix.

I spent 3 years in Canada and never saw it. I guess I traveled in the wrong (Brit) circles. Down here we call 'em chili-cheese-fries :-)

Poutine originates with the French language and the proper pronunciation in English is "poo..tin). The original recipe consists of: hot cooked fries, topped with cheese curds, and smothered with hot gravy (which melts the curds). Delicious, but not recommended as healthy!

not a fan but we did fall in love with another healthy Canadian dish in New Foundland: 'toutons"
it's normally served with molasses but we preferred it with the mozzarella sticks sauce...they gave us some looks
lots of great food in Canada some very healthy
ever have Salomon gundy? delicious and good for you!

We had saskatoon pie, ever had that?..we bought a couple of frozen ones back w/us to CA..also brought back saskatoon syrup, and saskatoon jam

I used to live in Saskatoon and would pick the berries that grew along the North Saskatchewan River, just North of the city. They're great fresh in the morning for breakfast and make amazing pies and preserves. Nothing compares!

Hi,
We were visiting w/friends w/our a/s in DeWinton, just outside of the Saskatoon Nursery that we toured around in Alberta..we didn't pick any, you could a bucket for $16 or $12 for already picked!!!..and when we continued our trip to Helena, Montana, we bought some huckleberries!

Our daughter lived in Halifax for two years - we took our AS up there once for a week - BEAUTIFUL!!!
Poutine, Saskatoonberry syrup on pancakes, Nanaimo bars and MOLSON! I LOVE Canadian food! (But it doesn't love my belly!) I used to get excited about Export A's too, but I quit smoking 25 years ago.

Come to the Maritimes, Atlantic Canada. Bumbleberry pie, Dulse, Hodgepodge, Blueberry grunt, Potatoe fudge, Fish and Brewis, Jiggs dinner, Finnian Haddie, Long Johns, Fat Alberts, Bar Clam pie, Quahaugs, Chicken Fricot, Fried Cod Tongues, Doughboys, Rhubarb Crisp, Rappie Pie, Fiddleheads, etc. etc. Always fresh. My Seafood Casserole recipe will make your tastebuds weep.
