Heard a little ditty on the Ipod today. Made me reflect on this thread. The lyrics felt extremely poignant after getting my dues renewal notice....

So, Frank--

Does this mean that you're hitting the road? Gonna peel the red numbers off your trailer and pitch the classic wool blue beret in the trash?

Just curious--your post seems somewhat ambivalent.

Cheers,
Nuvi

Now that I am out of the military, my idea of a pass and review is when I occaiosonally look at myself as I pass by a mirror and review in my mind... damm my gut is getting big!

Or you could make a contribution to a possible name. Why would he want to highjack it when he could easily just start his own? Not sure I understand your logic there. He probably doesn't care about the club too much since he is not in the club. Usually you need to be apart of something to be concerned about it's demise. Many people take the stance you do and pretend a situation does not exist. Many bury their heads in the sand and pretend it will all just go away. I notice that Greywolf's WBCCI number is 11537. Imagine when the club actually had that many members. Today the members are about half his member number.

Highjack away....

I like the aoa. I will not wear a beret, last time I did that I was in the army. I will not wear a red tie or a white pressed shirt or sport coat on a rv trip. One rule - it must be silver.

Hey Wolf,

I'm not going to divert the thread. I just think it serves no purpose other than to spread discord amongst the members of the WBCCI that care about it and want to see it try to regain what it once was.

I recently sent in my application and dues for the local unit here because we want to be a part of the club's history, and Amy and I care deeply about many of our friends who are members. I think the doubt about caring needs to be focused on the mirror.

Its a shame this thread was dredged up. But as long as we are here ,Seems some members of that soon to be defunk club have HORSE BLINDERS on and can only see red numbers . I will not mention names but that member is kinda my neighbor kinda. He looks down on those of us who's trailers wear blue numbers as scum.
A Shame!
We all have a passion for the same make trailer ,I would be nice if we could just at least recognize each other.

From the outside looking in it appears that WBCCI is on its way to becoming a historical footnote, so if Frank wants to start or join another club and ask for possible names here I don't view it as an attack on WBCCI, just another symptom of where it's heading.
I would like to see this thread serve its intended purpose rather than become a pissing match for pro and con WBCCI issues, which seem endless. What's with people posting to a thread to say they wish it wasn't "dredged up"? DUH, You just dredged it up!
How about if we stay on topic?

How about "HAPPY CAMPERS"

Seems to me that this forum works well for a club in and of itself. I find out more about where to camp and how to meet people than any club affiliation. I have made my donation to the forum and I feel that I get more than my moneys worth. Clubs need leaders, and so on and so on. I must admit I dont know anything about the WBCCI. Unfortunately the things that I read or hear about on the forum kind of make me uneasy about joining. I bought my airstream to camp and to get away from everyday stess of life. Any club that I join will need to emphasize camping, family fun, beer drinking and great people. Those elements are the most important to me.

I make it a point to read any thread with WBCCI mentioned anywhere.

When done I just smile and think how lucky I am.....

Hey, Ed,

It was a great rally. For the benefit of the folks on this thread who weren't there, I have attached a couple of pictures.

In the first picture Ed is cooking eggs to order ("as long as you order them the way I'm cooking them") to go with Leo's hash. As promised earlier in this thread, Ed and Sandy fixed French toast with Door County cherries the next day. Cookin' fools, they are.

The second picture is a little longer shot of the same. See all those uniforms? Neither do I. (These pictures were taken just as people were starting to show up. We had 15 or 16 trailers at the rally as I recall.)

Incidentally, that picnic table with the yellow tablecloth also served as the officer's table at the meeting. Meeting? Yeah, we had a business meeting. Including election of next year's officers it took 20 minutes, which I timed. (We had to ask for nominations from the ground, since we didn't exactly have a floor.) I don't think most of the members in attendance felt too inconvenienced.

By the way, we picked up one or two more members at this rally, bringing the total for this year to 22 new members of the unit. The fact that WBCCI has some problems at the international level doesn't keep us from having a lot of fun with our unit.

And we are just as much a part of WBCCI as the folks in the white tuxedos.

Cheers,
Nuvi

Let's see—truck brands, axles, propane on or not at gas stations, WBCCI, Airstream Co., etc., etc. Who needs to argue about politics and religion when we have all this?

And the beat goes on…

Right! ...except they are the ones that get to blow $100,000 of the club reserves. Good thing we like cheap fun

Sorry I missed the "Doing the Door."

Going to International was a huge mistake. I would have been better served staying home and remaining blissfully ignorant to what goes on out there. I see a sinking ship that is out of touch with reality. Glad it works for some of you. It is very broken for me. I will most likely renew my membership but only because I can camp with my unit. Unfortunately, I think all the trends currently going on will continue including the rapid decline of members.

And just to call it as I see it... the statement "I am sticking it out so I can effect change" that is hog wash. Those who use that line are full of it. You ain't changing jack. 2020 study... 2020? This is 2009!

My two favorite names are: Airstream Owners Association and Wally Byam's Camping Club
