Sounds great.

But, where will you get all the ice?

Since it's also apparently a "mister," it will quickly cause a "musty" smell in the trailer, and/or mold.

I haven't tried it but it sure LOOKS interesting for the price. [Thank You China]
Just keep in mind that as with any AC, it will have to have a vent to the outside. The heat has to go somewhere!

No worries,

We always bring a ton of ice.

Using the mister is an option, from what I have read about this machine.

We have a brand new AC unit on our rig, I'm only interested in this machine for boondocking in really hot weather as our generator isn't big enough to run our AC.

I think it is an ICE maker with a fan. To rid itself of the melt water it uses it as a evaporative swamp cooler.

But this is all speculative.



It would be great if it works!

Too funny!

Anyway, I just placed an order with Cabelas for this unit. We will use it this summer when we boondock and I will report back on it's value (or lack of).

What I'm hoping it will do is reduce the warmth in the bedroom area (twins layout, back of rig) as we can close this section off from the rest of the trailer. I'm thinking we would only use it during breezeless, muggy nights.

I used this unit in a tent trailer.

My direct description: Fancy humidifier. It uses ice instead of water. Or you can just put water in there. They also make these in a tall standup electric model. It is like a swamp cooler.

It will cool a small space, worked ok in the tent trailer.

This gives me hope that it will work in the bedroom area of our trailer. I'm not expecting the same results as our using our roof top AC, I just want to be able to cool down the space enough to be able to fall asleep.

We use a 1957 swamp cooler in our FC. It works reasonably well. We've only used it where it's been very hot and very dry so moisture in the air was actually a blessing. It's 12v so works pretty much anywhere.

I have nothing but positive things to say about it.

I do make sure it is cleaned and dry before storing it so that mold is not an issue.

I like the look of this one and it appears to be a bit smaller than ours. For the price I may have to order one to compare.

This is the one we got for our bedroom at home when the a/c went down on us last year. It worked great. If you are hook up to power, this will work great.

Same principle as the one at cabela's, just larger.

Very interesting, and it claims to use about the same power as a 60 watt light bulb so it could be plugged right into our onboard inverter and run off our batteries.

Probably will work great in very low humidity areas, like Arizona. In Arkansas, however, or anywhere it gets to 100 degrees and 95% humidity, it will just make you sticky is my bet.
