PLEASE POST YOUR THOUGHTS!!! Spartan!!!

Hi all,
I'm asking for all unbridled thoughts here, so go wild...you won't hurt my feelings!
Here's the situation:
I have a chance to pick up a 1947 25' Spartan who's outside is in good shape.
The pics are attached...
The price is not too bad, but I happen to think it's a bit high at $1800.
The inside is gutted, very little original insides.

I don't have a bunch of money (and I'm in the middle of renovating my 74 Safari), but I'm thinking this might be too good to pass up.

So your thoughts on the price (how much cash should I offer) and availability of these is what I'm after, as I'm totally up for handling the restoration.
BTW, I love my airstream, but I'm absolutely enamored with this model and year spartan. It's basically my dream trailer...
Thoughts!?

I'm equally enamored by the Spartans. But, I think the original interior of them is what really makes them spectacular. I love the birch & the rounded curves all over in them. If you're simplly enamored by the exterior & want to make the interior your own, go for it! You'll have lots of time & $ invested in her by the time you're finished. I have a project Bambi II that I've already sunk tons of time & $ into and right now have just a shell & new frame to show for it all! It's a hobby, though. That's what it needs to be to justify all that you will be doing!

You just answered your own question.

Unless you own a huge barn or pole building that has enough empty space to store this until you get around to it... it will sit and deteriorate further.

Or if you're 99.9% sure you can sell it as is for more than you're being asked to pay... you know you're subtracting available funds from the current project.

I understand the appeal, but without a lottery win, you either realistically resist temptation and throw your heart, soul & wallet into the 74 Safari... or you have a financial bind that will result in two unfinished projects.

SO... go buy a lottery ticket NOW!

Best wishes, Paula

Offer them $1200, and it will be yours. Then use it as your hobby and build your dream interior in it, so what if it takes years. If it is your dream trailer, go for it.

You can only give full physical attention to one mistress at at time. Daydreaming is a multi-tasking friendly pasttime that requires no physical exercision.

I did not get the spartan, as I had to go with the logic of fixing one thing at a time...darn that logic!!! Oh well. I just hope I can find one the day I finish my AS!

I would not consider another one until I finished the one I am working on. I have seen great deals in the past, present and I bet I will see them in the future. When I am finished with the one I am working on, then I will reflect on what I have done and consider another possibly. It all boils down to time and money
