Susan:
Thanks for posting the pictures--I have often wondered what Colaws looked like. Hope your microwave oven is still working fine.

I know of one in Bellingham, WA that wrecks RV's but haven't been there yet. Neighbors were there last year and didn't mention any Airstreams, but they sure got a deal on a bunch of parts. I also am aware of one south of Seattle - Singleton's, but the same neighbors were there this September and didn't seem impressed. They weren't allowed into the yard. They are the one's restoring the '58 Silver Streak Chico I started with.
We found a fellow near Poulsbo, WA with over 20 vintage Airstreams in his yard (including several Bambi's)as well as a few Silver Streaks, a couple of Silver Streams, and some others but he wasn't into parting any out at the time. His prices for complete shells was on the high side given their condition. None were wrecks but they'd been sitting on wet coastal grass for a long time and the frames of the couple we checked out closely were in tough shape - in our minds not tow able. (Picture below of some of them - veritable field of dreams)
If there's another one (or more) out there I'd love to learn of them. With my buddies both about to undergo restifications on Flying Clouds this would be very helpful.
Thanks, and Happy New Year.
Barry

I had almost as much fun as you did being there. The pictures were great! Thank you.

Thanks for the reports and pics. I have had to order a "hard to find" replacement part from Colaw's and they did me right. I'll call them again if I need to (hopefully I won't need to!). It was great doing business with them.

Great thread. It certainly is bittersweet to look at these pictures.
Thank you Susan, Terry and Barry.

Not "salvage"
Colaw's doesn't call it "salvage"--they are pretty specific about calling the stuff "treasures".

Boneyards are wonderful. A friend and I took my son through one when he was in high school that was only cars from the 1950's, 60's and 70's. He is artist enough to enjoy the sensibility of this graveyard of yearnings, and my friend and I started to riff off of each others memories. I learned, for example, that at least one model of car from the 1950's even had a grease fitting for the speedometer/odometer cable, a touch missing from thereon thanks to some bean counter somewhere.
Am looking forward to Colaw's. I seem to have one trip for the West forming in me, and another toward the Maritime Provinces. Bits and pieces come together as I read what you 'streamers write.

It's been a couple if years since Susan posted the pictorial tour of Colaws RV Salvage. I was through there two weeks ago as I was on my way to Roaring River State Park (a great campgound on a trout fishing park). I thought I would post some recent pictures. There is one Airstream Land Yacht MH with a frontal lobotomy. I have to wonder what happened to it.

It is interesting to see these pictures. I didn't know this place existed until a few weeks ago.
Since the new trailer has more things sticking down and touching the ground, I decided that I needed another set of Lynx Levelers. I searched all over and finally found the best price on EBay. I bought the set, and a few days later I received a package from Colaw's RV Salvage. I thought, "what the heck did I order and forget about?" . When I opened it and found a set of Lynx Levelers. Then I thought, "What did I do, buy recycled levelers?" However they are obviously brand new, the only difference being that are in a blue bag that says "Colaw's RV Salvage" instead of a black one saying "Lynx Levelers".
I then found their web site, wow what a resource. So thanks for the pics, now I now what it looks like.
Regards,
Ken

funny, i was thinking about the mo' bone yard just yesterday...
and this thread.
THIS PLACE is where the submerged silver turds in woodstock ga should go...
it would be GREAT for the wide body era, 'streamer community to have the parts...
from skin segments and end caps and windows and doors and appliances and axles and wheels,
to interior skin and steps and light fixtures and holding tanks and lp systems and fantastic fans and a-c units and vents and batwings...
available AT colaw's bone yard.
i have no idea how the salvage vendor SELLING those units will price them (or the auction bids)...
or what a 'complete new unit' would price out at in bits and bits and bits...
but it would be cool to have those units DEconstructed in carthage...
cheers

I have been to Colaws several times and found you get better service and price when you order over the phone.
I do like to stop and browse you can easily put in a half day there and spend a ton of money.
They do carry new as well as salvage parts.

Ouch!
I'm feeling a little nausea coming on. What happened to the baby? You might try Colaws in Missouri. Best wishes for a complete recovery!

Thanks again - kinda like an "Airstream Time Capsule" wondering what these silver bullets all lived through to get here to their final locale.....

Colaw
I just called Colaw’s and the parts guy I spoke to said they are no longer dealing in used Airstream parts.
Any other resources? I’m looking for a complete aluminum flip over step assembly (including the upper castings) to replace my low-hanging steel steps.
My Airstream is a 2009 International 25FB.
I think the aluminum steps for just about any recent classic, etc will fit.
Thanks!

Aw! I am really sorry to hear that! They were quite the resource.
I have no suggestions for your step, sorry! Hopefully someone will chime in.
