On a more humorous note, it was the same one that had the plastic on it at Heron Lake. I had a plexiglass one cut for it. Maybe lexan this time. I'm sure its going to be a while before Vintage Trailer gets them back in stock.

We are in big trouble....

Not my words, but the National Weather Service.

Tomorrow's winter storm is supposed to be stronger then the one in December!

Quote:
.SYNOPSIS...A QUIET NIGHT IS IN STORE BEFORE THE STRONGEST WINTER STORM IN SEVERAL YEARS AFFECTS THE REGION THURSDAY AFTERNOON INTO EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. THIS STORM WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WINDS...HEAVY RAIN...AND HEAVY MOUNTAIN SNOW.

The National Weather Service has isued the following warning:
Quote:
QUARTZSITE... SALOME... BUCKEYE...
NEW RIVER... WICKENBURG... MESA... PHOENIX... GLOBE... MIAMI...
SAN CARLOS... TACNA... WELLTON... GILA BEND... APACHE JUNCTION...
CASA GRANDE... FLORENCE 350 AM MST THU JAN 21 2010 ... HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO MIDNIGHT MST TONIGHT...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PHOENIX HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO MIDNIGHT MST TONIGHT.

AN UNUSUALLY INTENSE COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH TODAY DEVELOPING VERY STRONG PRE-FRONTAL WINDS. THE HIGH WIND WARNING IS POSTED FOR AREAS NEAR THE COLORADO RIVER... EAST TO WICKENBURG... GILA BEND...
PHOENIX... CASA GRANDE... AND GLOBE MIAMI.

* TIMING: STRONG AND POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS WILL DEVELOP BETWEEN 9 AM AND MIDNIGHT... WITH THE STRONGEST WINDS THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING.

* WINDS: SOUTHERLY WIND IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH IS EXPECTED... WITH GUSTS TO BETWEEN 50 AND 65 MPH POSSIBLE.

* IMPACTS: TRAVEL WILL BE DIFFICULT... ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES ON WEST-EAST ROADWAYS... INCLUDING INTERSTATES 10 AND 8.

BLOWING DUST WILL RESULT IN REDUCED VISIBILITY AT TIMES. OUTDOOR FURNITURE AND OTHER UNSECURED LIGHT ITEMS COULD BECOME AIRBORNE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED.

SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH OR GUSTS OF 58 MPH OR MORE CAN LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE. IN ADDITION... STRONG WINDS OVER DESERT AREAS COULD RESULT IN BRIEFLY LOWERED VISIBILITIES TO WELL UNDER A MILE AT TIMES IN BLOWING DUST OR BLOWING SAND. USE EXTRA CAUTION
I'm not sure if I believe the part about blowing dust, but blowing mud is a possibility. Sounds like a good day to make sure everything is secure, cook up a nice hot bowl of soup and check for leaks.

These are the nights when you wake up and think, "did I put the awnings up?"

Getting very windy in Casa Grande and had a bit of rain overnite but most looks like it's north of us at the moment. Looks like a good day to stay in the trailer and read AirForums!

In Quartzsite it rained all night long. The washes were running when I got up at 6:30. Rain hasn't let up. Good thought to check for leaks Richard. Last storm we had one of my skylights was leaking so in the calm between the storms I re calked it. Typical skylight, cracked around the screws. Supposed to rain through Friday. Has a tendancy to slow down the happy hour.

Wow!, It's nasty out there. The silver lining about these storms is we could have a killer wildflower bloom this year.

It started here in Angel Fire about an hour ago and supposed to last until Saturday morning. We're stocked with food and lots of fuel for the tractor, but I sure hope this isn't as bad as the weatherpeople are saying. We DO want to pull out with the Airstream in a couple of weeks!
