perscription drugs

After a loss of insurance my wife heard from a RVing friend who bought her perscription drugs across the border in Mexico. Before making a trip to Tucson we wondered if anyone had experence in getting their perscription medications in Mexico?

I have

My primary home for the past 25 years has been the Rio Grande Valley. My Ranch there is two miles from the Border....or whats left of it. Just send me a PM and I can fill you in. It is a savings there and nothing wrong with the Meds. Just plan your trips for a vacation and fill up....like most Winter Texasn do.

You mean someone actually gets caught coming across the border? When we went to pick up our "new" 78 Argosy in El Paso, we were driving a truck with an Oklahoma tag pulling an empty trailer with a Texas tag. There is a large check point right outside El Paso where we were sure we would have to stop and explain the Texas trailer and Oklahoma truck, possibly even have to let the agents see in the trailer. We had the signed title and bill of sale out waiting to show the agents. This guy never even let us slow down. He just waved us through without a look. We could have had a trailer full of who knows what. No one seemed to care. Think of the drugs we could have brought back!

Border crossing

Don't try to sneak them in. Just tell the Border Customs guy what you have, when asked. If its for personal use you won't be bothered. If you are obviously abusing the import they will confiscate. If you have a US prescription your protected more so. We buy Vet Meds there too. Have never had problems....even when a nervous relative who had bought "Opium" perfume got tounge tied and told the Customs Inspector she was bringing in Heroin.....oops.

We had to do this for a brief period ourselves when having to go for short time with no insurance. We parked on the US side, walked about a half mile over a bridge, and straight into what was basically a Mexican Walgreens. We did not have to provide prescriptions, and we received our meds in factory sealed blister packs in their respective boxes. When we walked back across, the border agent asked three questions - were we U.S. citizens, had we anything to declare, and were the medications for our personal use. Then they sent us on our way. If I remember correctly though, you can't buy more than a 3 month supply at a time, but I don't know if this is still the case.

In any event, being able to do this saved our butts during a rather lean time.

I think its a great idea if you can get away with it. My friend who is a PA got stuck with a needle down there once, true story. No aids or anything, nothing to worry about honestly but the guy actually looked up at him and said in his accent, "you will crave tacos for the rest of your life"
What about Canada?
