Paul Harvey

Heard this on Paul Harvey this morning, and thought it was worth sharing.

Police found a man lying ill beside someone elses motorhome. There was a gas can and siphon hose beside him. Apparently he was attempting to siphon some gas, got mixed up and was trying to siphon out of the black water tank!

I can hear many " Morals to this Story"

Urban legend.

How many black tanks have you seen with a cap on the exterior?

Somebody needs to show old paul how to use the internet. That one is even on Snopes and the original posting is 12 years old.

Famous urban legend. Can't be done.

Think about it - the only way to siphon a black tank is through the toilet.

You know, I heard this, too, and my first thought was "...hmmm...my sewage tank only opens from the bottom...the only way to siphon it out would be to go in through the toilet, and it would be very hard to confuse that will a gas-cap".

I don't know...maybe I'm just ignorant of other motor home designs, but I can't imagine why any manufacturer would configure waste tank w/ filler-neck type access.

Maybe the tank was full and the poor guy drowned when he pulled the cap back

And, if it was possible, you'd think the first mouthful would have been a pretty explicit hint and would have prevented further gulping of the questionable sludge. I would also doubt there would be much gasoline odor to help confuse him.

Mmm, lunch anybody? lol!

Maybe the guy was trying to siphon a different kind of gas.

Paul Harvey is one of the largest spreaders of urban legends around today. Just search for his name on Snopes.com and you'll see it comes up rather frequently.

Although I've heard other radio commentator's working just as hard. While driving through Colorado Springs a few years ago I heard some DJs warning people about 'kidney theives', and interviewing some joker on the phone who knew someone who knew someone who woke up in a tub full of ice with his kidneys missing!

A little skepticism can go a long ways!
