Original Airstream Accessories

I recently purchased an AS. It's a 1966 Caravel. I was told that the lighter in it came with the Airstream. Plus, the beer opener says 1966 on it. Could these have really come with the AS when purchased? Or did someone just collect things along the way?
I tried looking up a thread on this??? Didn't find anything. Other people seem to have better luck with the seach menu then I do. So, if you know anything. Let me know. Thanks.

I could take a picture of the lighter if that helps.

Airstream never installed a "lighter."

They did install a 12 volt outlet, which looks like a lighter outlet.

Airstream also did not install the "beer opener."

Outfits like JC Whitney sell various appliances (e.g., coffee makers, vacuums) that plug into 12 volt "cigarette lighter" outlets. (Camping World also has some of these, but they seem to focus more on 110 volt stuff.) They generally give you the amp draw, so you can check your manual to see if you're trying to do too much.

Here are some photos of what I was talking about. I'm assuming they didn't come with the Airstream when originally purchased. The previous owner told me they did. The bottle opener says 1966. I'm figuring someone picked it up along the way as a purchase for the AS.

My mother used a lighter very much like that when I was young in the late 60's early 70's. Ours would not have come from an airstream, we had a home-made truck camper at the time!

I have a lighter EXACTLY like the one in the picture. It belonged to my parents who were Snowbirds to the Pheonix area in winter in their 1974 Terry 5th wheel. The can opener is one of a Billion made.

I figured they didn't come with the AS. The lighter still works, so we use it for the stove top. I think it's pretty cool. The beer opener I figure someone bought at one time just because it says 1966 on it. I would do the same if I ran into one like that. Thanks for the replys.

You've got some cool accessories, Alaska, whether an original Airstream option or not. I do have an original 12V outlet in my 1960 TW under the curbside sconce that includes a cigarette lighter which works. My TW isn't an International so 12V outlets weren't standard. However, I do know 12V outlets were on the custom options list.
