This great Richie Havens tune popped up in the mix this morning.

Picture being at a campground, high on a bluff overlooking the Pacific, as the languid ocean swells stir the kelp grass floating on the surface of a glassy sea . . .

“And close your eyes, child, and look at what I'll show you;
Let your mind go reeling out and let the breezes blow you,
And maybe when we meet then suddenly I will know you.
If all the things you see ain’t what they seem,
Then don't mind me 'cos I ain't nothin' but a dream .
And you can follow; And you can follow; follow... “

Have a good weekend!

Peter

Thanks Bob, here’s more bluegrass Christmas music, the first of a few volumes, with these cuts noted:

1. Christmas in the Blueridge — Lou Reid and Carolina
3. Christmas time back home — Darrin and Brooke Aldridge [6:04]
6. I’m Goin’ Home, It’s Christmas — Balsam Range [12:50]

Nice!

PBS had a good special on Cat Stevens this evening. The old ones sure take us back to the late 60's.

A great somber song about being on the road again . . .

Miles From Nowhere . . .

Muscle Shoals pioneer Rick Hall passed away last week...Here is one of many fabulous artists who made legendary recordings there.

Great one Brian, thanks. RIP Rick Hall, an amazing pioneer. Was it the Foo Fighters who did a recent documentary about Muscle Shoals?

Did you ever see the movie Cadillac Records? Good stuff.

Not sure but I watched the 2013 film on Muscle Shoals. Yes Cadillac records was a good one too. If you haven't seen Calle 54 it's worth a watch if you are into Latin Jazz at all.

Travel Like Gypsies in the Night

Been thinking about posting about this tune for a while and found this thread the perfect venue.
There's a lot to be said for the classics from the AOR days of FM radio. Really enjoy the timeless Bluegrass and Jazz.
How about something current?
This has been getting a fair amount of airplay recently.
New anthem for Full-timers?
Tom

Nice one, Tom, thanks!

Listened to Live From Here last night [the old Prairie Home Companion]:

https://www.livefromhere.org/

. . . and it was so great to hear from John Prine again. It's been a while, and apparently he has had some health issues affecting his voice, but what a strong talent still!

Speed of the Sound of Loneliness
. . .
So what in the world's come over you
And what in heaven's name have you done
You've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness
You're out there running just to be on the run
. . .

Here's a number that I don't think we have had. It was first recorded by the group Blind Faith. I like this version by Winwood and Clapton. Much smoother.

Well, please excuse my CRS. I posted this version in early August of '17. When you have CRS it's a new world every morning.

That is indeed a great version Don! Duplicate postings are fine here IMO, if the spirit moves . . .
