Researching my genealogy. My ancestors settled the New Mexico Territory starting in 1605 when my 8th great grandfather Francisco de Madrid came up from Spain. He was 10 years old and working on a Spanish military wagon. My great grandfather Manual Sandoval built a church in Chacon, Mora County, then known as el Rito de Agua Negro, in 1879. The church is still there, although rebuilt in 1920. We will attend on Sunday morning.

My great grandfather ran freight through the Raton pass from Trinidad with horse drawn wagons.

Fascinating, thanks. That must be amazing sitting in your ancestor's church!

Safe travels . . .

In honor of your ancestors Brian. Hope the trip is going well.

Thanks FAN for this fine work.

Thanks to CruizinDux Bob for the reminder of Creedence Clearwater Revival with Stuck in Lodi on the OTRA I channel.

This more somber tune from CCR takes one back . . .

Thanks Brian for the post below in the OTRA Music I thread.

Sorry for the loss of both of them, and thank you for the great cover of that old standard You Belong To Me. [I have replied here on the OTRA Music II thread, because this is where the sad stuff lives . . . IMO.]

If you check Post #2 here in this thread, there is a resonant history with Joey and Rory, including the other airforums thread linked there, and a good tune from them and the Zac Brown Band, This Song's For You.

Life is short . . .

Thanks again,

Peter

I would like to share a very special song with you. Ever since I was very small hearing this song would always put me into a sort of melancholy kind of mood. The song is You Belong to Me which was recorded by many including Dean Martin and Patti Page. Jo Stafford had a big success with it followed by the Duprees.

Here is where it gets special. I have a recording of it by a girl named Amy Ross. It was recorded in a bar in Bisbee, Arizona. The recording is very rare and not many have heard it. There are no You Tubes of it. It brings a tear to my eye when I hear it, and I must play it sparingly.

The forum won't let me upload my copy but
I found a copy on Soundcloud. It is the same recording. It did not exist when I acquired my copy. https://soundcloud.com/jimigiannatti...me-by-amy-ross

It wouldn't be fair if I didn't give you the whole tragic story on Amy, here is a link to that.

This classic popped up on our music mix this morning.

" . . . goin' back to a simpler place and time . . .

. . . dreams don't always come true . . . "

Amen

Thanks TravlinMan for the clip of a young Ricky Skaggs pickin' on the OTRA I thread. Amazing talent!

The following more somber tune rolled out of our iTunes mix this morning.

Food for thought . . .

Life is short.

Here is that song I mentioned, Brian. Dale Ann Bradley's cover of an amazing song by Tanya Savory who has written other great ones, like "40, 80 or 10?" by Nancy Griffiths.

"Reason Enough" is about breaking up with someone:

"If you're thinkin' of leavin', that's reason enough . . . "

What lyrics!

PS -- Posting here on the OTRA II thread because the theme -- breaking up with someone -- is a little somber for some.

I thought this would fit better in the OTRII thread. I also noticed Derek Trucks of Allman Brothers fame over in the corner. A load of talent here.

A perfect call for both the song and the mood of this OTRA II thread . . .

A really nice live version with, as you say, a lot of talent in the room. Brings back fond memories from the late 60's and 70's . . .

Thanks, Don!

Glenn Campbell has reached The Campground . . .

Rest In Peace.

Great live version, thanks! Sweet guitar break at 1:50 with a quick masterful flurry of notes at the end, almost an afterthought he so skillfully throws in!

Here's a couple of versions of Glen's numbers I like.

And another that I think is unusual for him.

Real nice versions indeed, thanks! Interesting interview with Alice Cooper popped up in the right column on YouTube, after clicking on the link at the top of your frame.
