OK time to get back into the music! Thought of this somber number while reminiscing about surfing in the 60's on the 20-footer thread.
Time with Lou Reid and Carolina. [John Cadley] Great lyrics.
"Time you're no friend to me . . . "
"When I was young, the road went on forever . . . "
Sound familiar?
PS -- Like many tunes the CD studio version is worth a listen too, but I could not find it on YouTube.
PS2 -- Will work on getting some more driving road songs on the other thread -- OTRA Music I --

Heard this on Prairie Home Companion last week. Nice to see the video on the PHC YouTube channel.
"Last Time On The Road" by Carl Jones, performed by Joe Newberry.
Kinda sad . . . but par for the course on this OTRA Music II thread . . .
PS -- The other thread has more lively On The Road Again road tunes!

Not necessarily a road song
Although, you can bet we will play it on the road. This is Zac Brown's new music video of I'll Be Your Man. The older daughter part is played by Hannah, Lou's grand daughter. Enjoy.

Thanks Tn Traveler for the great song. What a treat for you to see Lou's GD in the video! Do you happen to have a YouTube link for a song Zac wrote and performed about his wife, but never published on a CD/LP? A real sweet number, but I forgot to bookmark the link. Thinking you might know if you are familiar with his work. Thanks.
Thanks PIggy Bank, that is a fine road song! Nebraska is sure one long state, isn't it?
Happy Trails . . .

Sorry, Peter. Can't help you out with the Zac Brown song about his wife. I can't remember having heard it.

For a little change of pace. Lyle Lovett and Rickie Lee Jones. This is a road song for days end when the driving is done. Hope you enjoy.

Cause you're not his (proud) uncle? 😀
Gotta check liner notes - his songs have been done by more famous artists (like Tim McGraw) and he's been doing his own stuff for years. This is is first record with Rounder.
I'm biased but with good reason 😀

As one of the comments on YouTube says, a lot of talent on the stage here for this 1986 version of Why Worry -- The Everly Brothers, Mark Knopfler, Chet Atkins and Michael McDonald.
A sweet number for this mellower OTRA II thread.
And this instrumental medley from Chet and Mark sets a nice mood, starting with See You In My Dreams, and followed by Imagine.

How about this somber number by Laurie Lewis and The Bluegrass Pals?
Saw her perform this live right after 9/11, a poignant moment for all . . . .
As Laurie says in her recent newsletter: "I have been looking at YouTube again, and thought that you might enjoy this live version of "Who Will Watch the Home Place" from 2009, with my Bluegrass Pals. Mary Gibbons on guitar, Craig Smith on banjo, Todd Phillips on bass, and Tom Rozum on mandolin. Craig is such a beautiful player! Well, everyone is great on there, but one is less likely to hear that sort of sensitivity on a banjo."
Copy that.
