Real nice, thanks! What pure voices, too bad they are not still together as a duo. Will have to check out more music by those two lads!

Thanks SSM, nice ones! Liking the arrival of Sister Mariah in the first one [3:30]. Will listen more carefully later.
Did you make it to the Green River festival? Life is still getting in the way here, with more medical stuff over the next few weeks. Ugh . . .
Thanks again,
Peter

Leilanisteve's recent Sturgill Simpson tune on the OTRA I thread led to this duet with John Prine at 11:40:
Great pickin' !!!
At 15:50 there is another interesting story and piece.

Posting this cover of Neil Young’s “Southern Pacific”. There are some banjo versions of Neil playing this too but this guitar version is great.

Been sitt'n on this awhile..until Jerry's BD yesterday
In the U of O Emerald a while ago was this article about the Dead’s lasting impact on Eugene. Interesting history IMO. I grew up in the bay area and graduated HS in 1967 so that is my basis in music.
The Dead recently played Autzen Stadium as a 40th anniversary of their first show there. The town was flush with Dead Heads, most whom would also stay for the Oregon Country Fair. Listening to KRVM streaming from the Oregon Country Fair and they started talking about Scott Law…Local from PDX, then a few unknown but wonderful pickin’ tunes and then certainly in the spirit of the Dead and Oregon Country Fair.
The real deal…pure Jerry. Away from the Dead, a whole different persona… just a pickin’ and a grin’n…musicians doing what they love most.
He wasn’t just the Dead but New Riders, JCB, Old and in the way, Garcia/Grisman, W/Merle Saunders (a keystone institution…don’t think they ever pulled his name from the marque), w/Elvin Bishop (either…ditto the Keystone marque). Simply too many to name.
jump to about 2:30…then a quote from a Utube’r says it all…” How many rock stars of Jerry Garcia's stature gave performances in state prisons? Virtually none. He was a guy who loved to play for any audience. They didn't have to be high price ticket holders. “ ..Like playing for free in Haight Panhandle, just for the satisfaction that someone is listening and having a good time. Certainly it wasn’t for the money.
And to close things out @ 28:29
Introducing the Grateful Dead, 1967, Just a reminder it’s not all pickin and an Grinn’n
Often the starter tune for a road trip…
and the closer
Happy Birthday Jerry Garcia 8/1/1942

OK, OK so it is a commercial....but still a great tune. Wish the roadhouse was still operating.
Can't wait for the toga party https://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-n...oga_party.html
