Chris Jones with his clear voice and straight ahead style kinda reminds me of George Strait.

Great thread. It’s long though and I confess I haven’t read all 35 pages. I have to chime in that one of my favorite hittin-the-road tunes is Get Around by The Beach Boys. Great beat, exuberant, and the lyrics of the first stanza really tell the story for me

Great Beach Boys tune, Brad, and welcome to the thread! They had lots of tunes that resonate for hitting the road indeed. Little Deuce Coupe is another. I thought it was posted here before, but I can't find it right now. Some of the early posts tap into the surfing theme. Do you surf in Santa Cruz, perhaps Steamer Lane? I spent some time in the Bay Area a long time ago, and went there a couple of times.
Look forward to hearing more tunes you like.
