Thanks for the thought. It's raining on my mountain in Tennessee, but that doesn't dampen my spirit of thankfulness for our wonderful country.

Copy that -- thankful indeed!
I have a feeling you would really like Roadies, from our brief correspondences here, and our similar ages.
It moves pretty slowly, and some episodes are a bit spotty, but the combination of the road action, the "vibe" from the times, real life performers doing new versions of old songs (often acoustic), the romances, and the departure of an important character at the end, played by Ron Black the comic in a fantastic performance as Phil, well . . . . I could go on and on. TMI I know -- sorry.
Here is a brief clip from Showtime's site. There are others but they are short:
http://www.sho.com/video/50505/roadi...an-of-the-hour
Phil: http://www.sho.com/video/50677/roadi...ron-white-phil
If your son visits and brings his cable provider's login info, you can probably watch Roadies on your computer, or on the TV via an HDMI cord. Well worth the effort IMO.
Have a great Fourth!
Peter

Thanks for the 4 great songs, and welcome! Gretchen Peters is new to me but I can see from her site that I have some catching up to do. I have always like Trisha as well, and I think there is a song or two of hers here, or on the other thread, which in theory was for the more somber songs:
OTRA Music Channel II: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f161...ii-147587.html
I will post the GP cover there if you don't mind, as that thread needs a kick in the pants.
Thanks again, and happy Fourth!
Peter

Always loved this John Denver song.

Thanks, I'll check out that thread as well. It's hard for me to express just how much I love geographically themed music. I also love vocal duets, and when it comes to duets and geography it doesn't get any better than this one, just something about the vocal contrast between David & Shelly combined with the longing for each other:

Two more good ones thanks!
This one just popped up on CNN's new series The Seventies.
On The Road To Find Out . . .
Think I might have the LP in a box someplace!

Thanks Peter! That totally made my day. Colorado is my home state and I am truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place. These mountains tug on my heart all the time. Their beauty can only be match by their mystique and their calmness. I love my home state

Very nice song Peter, gotta love Cat Stevens. Hey Steve we love Colorado too. Will be visiting Trinidad next week. Here's to your state by one of my favorite artists:

Thanks Brian, what a talent he was, leaving us at too young an age! A cover of his Poncho and Lefty is on the OTRA II thread.
Hope everyone had a good Fourth. From this camper's perspective, glad to have the holiday winding up this coming weekend so that Hither Hills SP will maybe have some sites available next week!
Cheers,
Peter

Here's a few more, the first is a Del Reeves tune and the cover is by Commander Cody, I used to know a local band here in Tucson that did a great and rowdy cover of this one.
The second is a great Steve Earle number that really rolls along
Lastly is a great old travelling song by the late Hoyt Axton, I remember cruising the interstates while blasting this one in my 69 Olds 442 convertible. As a side note Hoyt was actually a tour bus driver in his younger days.

Speaking of Steve Earle who can argue with this?

So, Peter, you're older than dirt as well.

Otra, I also love "Rocky Mountain High."
Here's another view from the flight deck at 39,000 feet.
