Double threat?

Hi, today I talked to my older brother, who used to repair copying machines for a living. I asked him if he heard this story yet, he said no. I asked him if he knew that copying machines had a hard drive in them, he said some of them have two hard drives. Both hard drives work together, but if one fails, the other one keeps all the information until the bad one is replaced.

WOW I always thought copiers had a RAM system that would not exceed 200 pages and when shut down wiped the RAM clean. What a surprise the data is captured on a hard drive.

Am I being told that the copier industry can't/won't build a copier that doesn't keep the document? Who's idea was that?

This time, I'm in favor of giant lawsuits.

After seeing that bit about the exec stating that the 'wipe free' option costs $500, I'm willing to bet the copy machine mfg also has an option to allow the machine's owner to review ALL documents copied - to check on their employee's movements, as it were - hmmm -

We have met the enemy, and it is our copy machine company!

This issue will be dealt with as soon as several high ranking politicos peccadilloes are revealed from a used copy machine's hard drive...don't hold your breath...

Why in heaven's name did they ever build a system that retains that many copies forever? What's their motive?

Wouldn't a few pages be enough?

Hello everyone - I work for a Canon Copy Machine company - When we have a traded in copier it is totally erased and new system software installed. Not all companies do this but we started it many years ago when we started selling machines with internal hard drives.
