Off Base / Winter Doldrums

There's plenty of time to contemplate safety as we plan for next season. For instance, this guy is using a rock instead of a cinder block. Good.

That might get about as far afield as some of us dare. I'll offer this link for the true thrillseekers in our audience. Tell me if you don't agree that is 2airishuman in the yellow suit?

Amazing!

[please note proper credit in the 2nd comment below the film: "This is from "Seven Sunny Days" a Matchstick Production. Give these guys the credit. They made the film. Buy the DVD it is excellent. mspfilms.com/ "]

Well, you've given me something to do now. The Vimeo video site should keep me entertained for a while...

Time for a break...

Like I alluded to above, you have now got me digging through this site...

Found this one.

Should help the mental state of those up to their hubcaps (or more) in snow...

I just don't get it. Jump off a perfectly good cliff.

I guess that answers the question, "if your friends jumped off a cliff, would you?"

The only thing that comes to mind is an expression that I have not formerly used but heard and think it truly fits the situation, forgive me please...Holy C@#P! I'm spellbound. Now what would William Buckley say? Well however eloquently he would word smith it, that is astonishing!!!

Thanks Canoestream, I have never heard of the sport before. If there was ever something I wish we could do that we can't do, it would be to fly and soar like a bird. But trying to get even closer to the rocks for exhilleration added upon already extraordinary risks would make me want to shield my eyes rather than be a spectator. I am ever so glad to have witnessed these successful jumps and flights though. Simply amazing.

Yes I would and I am looking forward to it! Looking for a "perfectly" good airplane to jump out of as well.

Nobody needs to ask where Michelle gets her solid nerve.

And then I looked for one of the best known Norwegian base jumping points at 604 metres, Preikestolen or the Preacher's Chair. What else shows up but this website! Too cool or what?

That's a very cool banner too Jim. Your tour has really brought you to the "heights" of travel. Hope Michigan is a fond although cold memory for you two. Where are you and Verna after leaving the Can Opener, or are you still there?

Aha, I see you noticed Verna up there on the Pulpit.
Marlon has me going back to the wilds of Alberta to capture 35 more darned jackalope for the childrens' zoo in Atlanta. Times are tough. We have to generate 50% more impalements for our tie-in with Physicians & Surgeons, LLC.

Bob, I think we met at the Can Opener but I didn't realize it was you. I met more than one Bob that weekend. Hope your travels are going smoothly. Happy Trails!

I've only missed out on about 6 states -- and Florida is one of them. Carol probably was multichannelling and, like my usual, had way too many tabs open. I might have been deceiving myself about how funny my reply was. There's much more hilarious reading in the classic thread that I linked to. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f48/...son-19203.html

Bob, you have really gone and exposed the matter now. I don't know how you are going to keep the lid on this topic now. Sure it started because we have winter doldrums but to have you bring up these scandelous threads...

I have been doing plenty of reading and research on Molly and the jackalope business. While I did my best to follow the lines of lineage is was beginning to seem like the Harper Valley PTA and I wondered to myself wherein lie that woman's scrupples and those of her partners and those of her even longer list of admirers. The hidden secrets behind the scenes the messy little family "histories" and now to find it presents itself today right here with the shadow of an Overlander and a land rover formerly known as Wall-E. Oh the horror of it all. I am still reeling from the information I have just read. It's just too much to comprehend all at once. You'll have to forgive me I just can't post any more about this now. I am still in shock.

Carol, glad to see you are back at the laptop after your surgery. Hope you recover quickly.

BTW, speaking of winter doldrums, Atlanta is supposed to be colder than Minneapolis, MN and Minot, SD today. Colder than NY, NY, too. It was 17 last night. Been in the teens for over a week. I know, I know, that's the worlds smallest violin and it's playing just for me.

Becki and I are already tired of the little winter we have and ready for spring already. We have our own ground hog here in Atlanta (his name is General Lee, original, huh) and he is right nearly every year. I'm hoping he doesn't see his shadow Monday week so we can get on with spring.

We bought a rug at the Jackalope store in Santa Fe two years ago. Was the well-racked woman who sold it to us Molly? Perhaps she moved south to avoid the cold in North Dakota (after trying Atlanta, North Pole of the southeast). No more flipping flapjacks for her, or is it flapping flipjackalopes?
