Ocean Breeze International

I just visited my nearest dealer, Safford RV in Fredericksburg, VA today. They had one of the new Internationals there with the Ocean Breeze interior.

It was cool! Airstream had sent me a brochure (with an offer to get a free book if I checked one out - heh heh) with some photos of this new interior. I thought I'd like it. Sure enough, I loved it!

It's very "bright and happy", with a nautical theme and beach bum type decor. Colors are light blue and white, very Florida-condo-by-the-beach-ish and they even have bamboo for the door handles and drawer pulls. In the overhead compartment across the front, they actually moulded bamboo in with the plexiglass. It makes for a really cool effect.

I'm not sure what all lengths are availablle; this one was a 25' with the front bedroom.

Wish I could afford one !

I'm curious. What was the asking price?

They had the MSRP on the sticker. The sales lady (Kathy) said they're required to do that. She said they sell them for a lot less when you go inside and talk to The Man.

I looked at about a dozen Airstreams down there, and the prices run together... I'm probably wrong here, but I think the sticker was around $43,500 on that one.

It was a 25' front bedroom. The walls in the bedroom were exposed aluminum. Floor plan was identical to the other Internationals, but I just liked the bright airyness of it better than the ones with the black wood.

It also had a port hole riveted into the bathroom door. Kinda neat.

saw same one

DW and I spent a couple of hours on Safford's lot yesterday. I talked her into making the 90 mile drive when I read that you had mentioned that they had a 25' FB Ocean Breeze Edition, Jim

It was nice and rainy which kept most of the dreamers at home - didn't bother me one bit however, since DW and I had an opportunity to spend a considerable amount of time alone inside the OB, checking out every nook and cranny (previously saw 2 OB editions at the Hershey show last Sept, but the crowds negated us from lingering {read drooling} over them for very long...)

We both agreed that the 25' FB is a very desirable floorplan - really makes fantastic use of available space and the white cabinets in the OB lightens the interior dramatically. I liked the floor material (bamboo-ey?) also which looks like it would hide dirt and marks very well. The exposed milled aluminum on the walls is fantastic as well...

The negatives: we were both curious as to why curtains weren't used over the double windows above the couch - just pull down shades. No pull down shades in the bedroom behind the curtains either - a recipe for a potential spicy nightime show . Also, the storage cubby above the pull out pantry, which has its own door, would require a long-armed contortionist to retrieve items from the back of this space.
And the finale: sticker price of a heart-stopping $71,990 . Virginia is very RV unfriendly, so I would be paying a pretty 4% personal property tax on that puppy every year

Hmmm, think I'll stick with my 15 year 30 footer a while longer - a couple of new awnings here, a skin recoat there...

Wowsers! Where did I get $43,500 from? That must have been the used one out back....

WV isn't much better on personal property tax. I'll be sticking with my 30 year old model for awhile...although when I redo the interior, I may do a beach bum theme. I like tikis!

Glad I could tip you off to one though. I live abot 3.5 hours from Fredericksburg.

They have made the Ocean Breeze available in all International floorplans for 2008...as well as the Signature Series.

The new '07 CCD Signature Series is really great.

The 25' FB in the Ocean Breeze interior lists for $67,000 MSRP. The 25FB right now is the most sought after layout of all the AS. Work with your dealer for the 'real' price.

Go to Colonial Airstream " Of New Jersey " 1121 Rt. 88 Lakewood, NJ 08701 Airstreams #1 Volume Dealership for a current listing of their inventory. They are the #1 AS dealer in the country and once you visit them you will know why. No I don't work for them!
