Hey Trailerbunny,

I'd really like to find the smite button on my keyboard.

Is it somewhere near my "any key"?

Don, we live in a scary world. For all our thin veneer of civility, there are occasionally peeks of what lies close to the surface beneath that veneer, and sometime's it's not pretty. Places like this tend to be a safe haven of civility most of the time, and for that I'm greatful.

Crazy - I had no idea Walmarts had gone international. Now there's no place that's safe from them and their giant bags of chips!

No, not all guys here in Texas look or act like that, some are actually intelligent. The funny you might be thinking of is the other Curious George, from the children's book.

Question Pleeeez, Noooo!!!!!!!

Please, I'm begging you, let this thread die! I'm subjected to political junk all day long at work/home/T.V./Radio/Friends/etc. I come here to be entertained about my hobby, but like a train wreck, I've got to look when I see it! Moderator, please help me, please!

Yes, I agree! Indeed, this very thread was my poor attempt to get away from it all. (Remember my original post: "You know, when I saw that thread about Bush, I decided not even to look! It's surely almost as bad as the Walmart thread on the RV.net.")

Wink Wal-Mart Bashing

I bash them too but for a much more personal reason.

But what is to complain about? Low prices, one-stop convenience and hours? Mom, apple pie and Chevrolet?

Smile What gives?

And now a second thread of president bashing, it is being allowed to stand without moderator intervention, but the thread and poll I started was immediately shut down and deleted as too big a waste of time and bandwidth. And all I wanted to know was forum member's party affiliaion.

It's no secret that I'm a Republican, but I also reserve the right as an American to vote for a non-Republican if there is a better person for the job.

Having said that, I don't have any issue with folks taking shots at G.W. publicly. George isn't eloquent by any means, but eloquence of speech isn't why I voted for G.W.--twice. It's interesting to me that the folks that don't like G.W. laughed and pointed out what a joke it was that G.W. didn't win the popular vote the first election, but did win the college and these folks claimed it was not a legit election. Then, the second time around, he wins both the college and the popular vote, and those same folks come back and say...."yeah, well it wasn't by that much." I found that interesting because elections are not set up like a horseshoes game. A friend of mine on this forum (a Democrat) even went so far to tell me that there would be Watts type riots before Bush finishes his second term. I bet him some beers on that one and will simply say that beer won tastes twice as good as beer bought! These people that are quick to throw jabs at G.W. will find ANY reason in the world to help make them sleep better at night to make G.W. a total villain, when in fact they need not go any further than their own party members to find the bogie man. These same people also most likely took shots at Reagan too back in the 80's and we all know how that turned out and who was proven wrong. These are also the same people who loved Clinton too, voted for Gore (the inventor of the Internet) and John Kerry who had no way to pay for his programs, all simply out of party loyalty and perception that the Democratic Party would have saved humanity as we know it as the modern day Robin Hood of our times.

Putting it into perspective, Clinton got caught sleeping around (several times), lied about it to cover it up (the very public and famous one we all know and love), didn't inhale, lost our perception of a strong nation when he systematically took apart our foregin polices (Somalia, Bin Laden, Iraq, etc)....and that surplus that we all miss so much came from Bill cutting the military spending and base closings which we found we needed now in a post 9/11 world (thus the return of Reaganomics). Then there was Kerry...the man who was for the economy, said he didn't own an SUV and was found to own more than one, but then said later, well, those were not mine, they were for my family.......

Fact is that ANY politician if they aren't kissing babies, they're stealing their lollypops. It's easy to be a couch coach and talk and say anything to slam the way things are going. Fact is that we have who we have and for those that don't like it, they have options. Move to a country that they would like (based on the immigration hits on the Canadian website after the 2004 election), up the dosages from their therapists (based on the CNN reports that some Democrats went into therapy after the election they were so upset), or wait until the next election to vote for Billary Clinton. Being that this is the off topic section of the forum, this is clearly the place to talk about it. Moreover, this thread is way more tame than some of the rest of the threads covering politics we've had.

As for Wal-Mart, it's true ruthless, raw capitalism....but I still opt to shop at my local capitalistic Target instead which also (sadly) mostly sells things made in most any country but the U.S.

Chris - by all means, no offense taken. If I had a choice, even though I was born and raised here, I would not have a Texas address. Unfortunately, I can't hide the accent.

I am a Native Texan, voted for Bush twice, ran a Political Action Committee for a number of the past 15 years, and had several personal conversations with W when he was Governor of Texas. He is a personal friend.
I found him to be a straight shooter, committed to his core values, and completely unwaivering in doing what he felt was right for Texas. He doesn't take a poll every morning to see what position he needs to take to be popular with the correctness police.
I like that.
W knows who he is, and he is completely comfortable with what he sees in the mirror every morning. He knows the world we live in, and that there are people in it that loathe the USA for our success and power, and that they will do ANYTHING to take a shot at us.
He is not afraid to take a position that stands for the long term core beliefs that this country of ours was founded on, even if it means that many people will dislike the decision. He believes to his core that in the long run, Freedom Wins. But, he knows that Freedom is not free, and it never has been "free". Everyplace someone is free, someone died for that freedom.
The USA is truly the "light of democracy", and that means that some people hate you just for being an American. They need no other reason.
That is reality.
And I am so thankful that we have a Leader that deals in realities and not in poll watching.
If you civilly disagree with my opinions, that doesn't make you my enemy. If you find that the ideas and party that you support are not the ones currently "in power", then you need to either change your ideas, or be more convincing that the ideas you support are better ideas on their own merit than the current direction.
I love politics. I always have, because it is the exchange of ideas about our governance of the laws that we live by.
Some people do not love political discussions. That is their right. And, those people do not have to come to the off topic forums and read such discussions.
Now back to your regular programming....
Your mileage may differ....
--just my 2 cents--
