Excuses!
It looks almost like yours, is shorter, and has only one axle...

Hey Sandy,
I just found this thread. I can have the people who did the rally shirts do direct to garment printing of your design if you want. The quality is far superior to online sites like cafepress.
Your work is very nice!

I've been doing hand-painted tees for a few decades now, but I have never marketed them in quantity. Perhaps the time has come seeing the lack of anything Argosy out there. I might just check out the rally shirt people for cost and see how that flies. Thanks, I would appreciate contact info. Sandy

You already have their contact info. In the goodies bag from the Cape to Cairo rally I placed their business card. If you are missing it, then let me know and I'll put you in touch.

It ain't silver
In response to the original post, for better or worse, this is probably because to the masses, an Argosy is the red headed step child (if even that much) of an Airstream. Sure, it may be the same trailer as the iconic legend, but it's NOT silver! An aluminum trailer should be silver. Period.
You know it's the same. I now it's the same. But "they" don't know it's the same. When you think of the "Icon", you think of SILVER.
Don't worry, I pull an Avion. Don't think I don't get my share of "What model of Airstream is that?" I'm sure all you Argosy folk get that and more.
cheers,

I want to be sure they launder ok before I make any more. Not washing them until after the Branson rally! All the teeshirts I have ever painted have laundered many times just fine, but it has been a while and I just want to make sure!
If you're serious about wanting them, pm me and I will give you details, cost, etc. and get sizes.

Argosies do seem to be a "stepchild" of a sort in the Airstream mentality...but as I have said before, Mustangs, Fairlanes and T-Birds are all Fords, just as Argosies and the many shiny aluminum models are all Airstreams. Maybe some other "trailer" artists can step up also, and paint some "Argosy art"! I am sure there are many Argosy owners who would like to have a bit of Airstream art that is not shiny aluminum! And there might even be a market for Avion art.......

Matt's Trailer
Did you guys & gals ever see that trailer that Matthew McConoughy (sp?), the actor, had painted or filmed over when he made his movie "Sahara"? It was about a 30' Classic, newer model, but it was desert brown. It looked pretty cool.
I've often thought of painting my trailers just to ease the maintenance on making it look good. If any of you have ever polished one....what a pain!
I think one of those super metal flake paint jobs like you see on bass boats would look cool. I've been thinking of doing that to my Avion. But the strawberry red metallic would sure be an attention getter.
Camo with a shark's mouth, like a Flying Tiger's P-40 would be kinda cool
I always liked how Argosy had the wrap around windows. My Avion has those as well, in the back bedroom. Makes it very bright and airy.
See ya on the road,

As far as T-shirts, or anything else that wil take it...have you ever tried out those one ounce bottles called 'Poly-mark'? They have them at Walmart and they come in a million colors including silver and metalics...it's like miniature toothpaste when you gently squeeze it out. I use it to outline siloettes in gold on brken pieces of tile...then I take a railroad spike (because they are free) and 'liquid nail' them to the base so they stand up. I will come back to this feed and show you some pictures of what I have been making. Be right back! Got to go to picasa...

Here you go...
Let me see here...These are broken tiles and I airbrushed sky colors across them, then pulled and printed out my favorite siloettes off the internet, made stencils on cheap paper plates with an exacto...then put the siloettes on the sky background...then used the 'polymark' I was telling you about to 'fluff up' the clouds...then used a gold metallic to outline the subject...then I used liquid nails to attach a railroad spike to the base. You could at least get a siloette of a Airstream and try the effect. Oh I seal the tiles with min-wax poly-urethane to finish...what do you think? Private message me cause I hardly ever come back to these discussions.
