The better half and I were doing a little mindless channel-surfing Sunday afternoon and came across a remarkable new series on PBS.
Mike Leonard of the Today Show gathered up his adult kids, his parents, and loaded them into a pair of rented RVs for a one month tour of the country.
A dreary Sunday afternoon turned into a compelling look at the interplay between the generations and Mike discovering his parent’s history.
Here’s a link to the Chicago PBS station and a short video clip. WTTW - Featured Clip - The Ride of Our Lives
Check your local schedule. A quick search found it to be starting in April on a number of stations.
No, there aren’t any Airstreams yet, but if the first two episodes we saw yesterday are any indication of the rest of the series I think you’ll find it well worth watching.
Better get the Dramamine on board
From watching the first two episodes I’ll bet the setup for most of the stories will be the comments his parents make about what they experience while driving. He spent at least 5 minutes about kids wearing caps backwards. Gets his father all riled up.
