Need help with transporting a part!

Hi Everyone! I need help to get a part from Lynn (Eubank on the forums) in Angel Fire, New Mexico to me in the Quad Cities... Milan, Illinois. He has no way to ship it from his location and size/weight is also an issue. If there is someone traveling from the Southwest to or thru the Midwest on Interstate 80 I could really use your help to get the part to me intact. I live close to where I-80 and I-74 junction thru the Quad Cities and there are rest areas and RV parks all around the area both in Iowa and Illinois if you are traveling through. There is also a Welcome Center in both Iowa and Illinois on I-80 each side of the Mississippi River. It is the AC shroud for my factory installed AC unit on my '67 Safari. It is used but clean and in good condition. If you have room and could bring it to me I would be very happy! Please contact me here or PM/E-mail me a phone number and I will call you to set up a pickup date with Lynn. He is located in the Monte Verde RV Park and Campground in Angel Fire, NM and will be removing it from his trailer in the next week or so. It will be ready to be picked up after that. I will buy a nice meal at a local restuarant to cover your trouble to do this if you can. Thanks to everyone for reading this and hopefully someone will be "Going My Way" Happy Trails, Ed

Yikes!!! One more post and I will hit the big 1000th. Being on the Forums since '04 I guess I only post when I am interested in the threads! Happy Trails, Ed

Ed,

Do you still want the rock guard? If not then I'll offer it to some other lucky forum member. I figured I'd check with you one more time before I moved on.

I only have over 200 posts, boy do I have a long way to go to hit the 1000 mark

Thanks, Mary

Maybe ...

Ed,
I am going out to Estancia(sp?) NM. next week to pick up a trailer and bring it back to St. Louis, Mo. I will have room in my pickup bed for an ac shroud. How about dinner and overnight camping fees? or camping in your driveway? Also I just noticed that Angle fire is in the Boonies almost half a state away from where I'll be + you are 100+ miles north of St.Louis.
Bob

Mapquest Says....

Bob, Looks like it's about 160 miles north of where you need to go then almost that far back down to I-40. I really hate to ask you to drive that far out of your way. Let's see if anyone else is going thru there and heading near here. I would meet you in St. louis or have you drop the shroud off at a forums members house in St. Louis rather than have you drive the 4 hours plus to get to the Quad Cities from near where you are taking the trailer. It would be too far north and (again) out of the way for you but thanks for the offer. I'll let you know if I get deaperate! Ed

If it helps, we live very close to US Route 64, stretching from Nags Head, NC all the way to Tec Nos Pos, AZ.

Can this happen...?

Lynn, Xbob2 is asking if there is any way to get the shroud down to Estancia, NM where he is headed. He will be leaving St. Louis area to there on Weds. or Thurs. to pick up a trailer for Lumatic. If this won't work then I will keep trying to find someone else heading this way. Ed

bite the bullet

Ed,
I would like to get your part to you ... I think I am your best shot. If someone can get the shroud to Marshall's place all the better but if not then maybe I need to drive...
Bob

No Easy Rider!

Bob, Let's see if Lynn has any thing to say on a way to get it to Marshalls' place or closer to where you will be going. I was looking at maps and see no easy way for you to use US-64 as he suggested to get anywhere back to I-40. This may be undoable. We'll see! Thanks, Ed

Unfortunately, we can't leave the park unattended, so I can't take it down to Marshall's place yet. (This is one downside of running a lodging business that we didnt' foresee.) If this were October, it would be a different story.

Thanks Lynn, It was worth asking. Maybe we will yet find somebody that can pick up the part from you and bring it back this way. Ed

Let's do this!

Looks like Lynn's work situation is such that its not possible for 1 person stay to mind the store while the other delivers the part. According to Map Quest it is a 3.5 hr. drive between Angle Fire and Estancia one way.
It also looks like there isn't anyone to move the part so here is what I have come up with ...
My plan was to drive 17 hrs from St. Louis to Estancia, close the deal hook up and go to the nearest truck/rest stop and sleep.
Instead, I could drive to Angle Fire which is about the same distance. If Lynn could give me a place to sleep and wash up, 5-8 pm. on the 26th to 8-10 am.the 27th, I could rest up from my long drive, sleep in, load up the shroud, have short drive down to Estancia arriving noon or early afternoon, close the deal, put on tires, hook up and go on the first half of the journey home. The operative word here is GIVE.
Does this sound like a good plan to anyone?
Bob

Plan

Well, from what I just read in my PMs' I guess my only quesstion is have you two decided what the plan will be and when? I really want to thank you Bob for being willing to go out of your way to pick up the shroud. Lynn if you can accommodate Bob for a place to sleep I will send you a $100.00 money order for the shroud. Is that acceptable? Let me know if this is doable guys! Thanks so much, Ed
