Question Need a plan "B" destination

I was all set to go to the Tin Can Tourist event in Milford, Michigan May 17-20, 2007 when I found out that the park it is held at does not allow dogs. As the result I won't be going since the Airstream does not go anywhere that the Chesapeake can't go. So.. I am looking for another destination. Any suggestions. It must be dog friendly, have something interesting to see or do, and if by water all the better (the Chess loves the water and I like to fish). Looking for somewhere within 400-500 miles.

My son's in-laws own a small campground in the mountains of North Carolina. River on at least two sides, and pets are allowed.

I've heard of a "PLAN B" but I think it's from outer space?

I think that was "plan 9", and the film was a bomb.

Nice looking area in Carolina, I'll have to consider that. As to distance I'm thinking 400-500 miles so I can enjoy the drive during daylight hours. If its somewhere that I just want to get to I might go 800-1000 in a day but with the Airstream its better to go a lot slower safer and enjoy.

Tin Can Tourists 10th Annual Gathering

We schedule the Annual Gathering and the Fall Campout during "Off Season" so that pets are allowed. A larger percentage of attendees bring their dogs along.
Anyone planning on attending should go to Tin Can Tourists - Vintage Trailer RV Motorhome Coach Club for a registration form or email me at f23bone@earthlink.net

Thank you Forrest! I contacted Forrest to find out what the heck was going on and now we know. The TCT is a great organization. If you are into vintage you need to attend one of their rallies. We went to one earlier this year in Cottonwood, AZ (same location as the FCU Rally) and had a great time.

63air,

The Kentucky unit is planning a unit Rally at Paintsville Lake Campground in Eastern Kentucky from 17 May to 20 May. This may be stretching your 400 mile limit but this is a great group of folks. As the name implies there is a lake close by and the hills of Eastern Kentucky are beautiful in the spring with an abundance of wildflowers and great hiking trails.

For more info contact Charles May maych@netzero.net

Thanks for the good news

Boy am I glad to hear that we will be able to go after all. My registration will be in the mail today. We have been to several areas with beaches that have an off season where dogs are allowed. Normally before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. You still get the good weather and no crowds, hard to beat.
Maybe I missed it but I did not see the anything other than "no pets allowed " on the Milford web site. They need to clarify the rules.
Can't wait for May.

Thanks for the information

Forrest, thanks for the information our registration will be in the mail today. This will be the first organized event for us and we are really looking for to attending and meeting other RV "crazies". Great winter news letter!

Even though we belong to the WBCCI and VAC I have to say I think TCT will become our favored organization. I think you guys have it right ,fun over formality.
