You may just surprise yourself one day!
Looks like we will need to rename our Airstream now. When we first got her and were on our first shopping sprees, Becky would ask "where are we going to put that". My response was "well, on the boat of course..." (yes, we are also boaters with a J/24 and a Coronado 15 that we actively race). So we just started referring to our AS as "The Boat". So now what should we call her... Hmmmm.

Well, since we take our dog Heidi on all of our trips, each time she wakes up she is in a new and exotic land... and the AS does seem larger on the inside than on the outside... Guess we will start referring to her as the "TARDIS".

That's funny you'd say this...we had company over the other day and they ask us our Safari's name...

First, I digress, we name everything, that includes a doz chickens , 9 hawks in the propagation project, 3 dogs, a cat, a wild turkey turned tame, and there is the occasional garter snake that shows up in our garden and the neighborhood skunk.

So then, when we first went and looked at our so to be bought Safari, our grandkids wanted to know what it looked like... The wife quipped' Well it's silver and kind of looks like an Armadillo. That's what our our five year old granddaughter dubbed it... "The Silva-dilla" Dilly for short.

We are bad about naming things, we even named all four of our children!!!! In fact most of them have been called a lot of names over the years, but that's another story!!

Give it time, I'm sure it will name itself after some great adventure, mishap, etc.

Isn't it bad luck if you don't name your Airstream? Kinda like the bad luck from not naming a gnome when you get one. I started out calling mine the Silver Palace now it's . . .

Actually I think it is kind of arrogant to go around assigning names to things that may well already have a perfectly good name that they prefer.

I figure if our trailer wants us to know its name it will tell us.

In the meantime, I figure if I take care of it, it will take care of me.

We're surprised that we don't see many Airstreams with names displayed. We've always named our sailboats (required for documented vessels), and the new Airstream just fell into that paradigm. After living in Indonesia for three years, we had some favorite words that seemed to fit, although nobody ever knows what they mean until we explain. Our sailboat is named JAMU, Indonesian for various herbal tonics that restore whatever aspect of you that needs restoring or enhancing. Yes, that too The Airstream is named Jalan-Jalan, roughly translating to "a journey down the road". We had the name and 'home port' (Durango, CO) done to our design in vinyl lettering at a sign shop and applied it on each side near the bow of the Airstream. Looks good and starts a few conversations.

Our old gal is named Belle because she just looks like a "Belle" I think it may have something to do with the Christmas song "Silver Bells" too.

Hmm... Ours is named Bertha, which is a natural progression from a couple of our older Airstreams. I was going to name this one "Rio Dinero" about the time it consumed $12,000 in parts, but I was overruled. Bertha it is.

we called our AS--Southern Belle. I bought her in Georgia and hauled her home to Eastern Canada--in December. Because originally she came from Arizona, Southern just worked for me and Belle--- has a nice ring to it.

Have you got a pic of the name and lettering? I want some vinyl lettering done myself. We did add the name to the license plate. Bud, my wife's dad, was 99 when he passed away, thus the plate...

I have an uncle that didn't have a name till he was in the 1st grade. My Grand Parents couldn't come up with something they liked so they called him Baby Brother for a while thinking they would settle on something. As he got older they started calling him Sonny cause he had issues with Baby Brother. When he started school in the first grade the teacher ask him his name, he said Donald Duck. She finally got him to tell her he didn't have a name and was embarrassed so he just said Donald Duck. His Dad showed up to pick him up and the teacher said don't you think it's about time to give your son a name? He ask if she had any suggestions, she said how about Larry. He said Sonny what do you think about Larry. They all three agreed on Larry on the spot. Much later in his life after Larry married he and his wife decided to get his birth certificate changed from Baby Brother to Larry. He worked 30 some years for the US Forrest Service and was never ask to see his birth certificate.
I also have not been able to decide on a name for our trailer. Maybe I should call it Donald Duck!!

When we got her, my wife Beth thought I had a new mistress because I spent all my time with her. I began telling her "going out to make love to my mistress" Then I just started saying "going out to show Anna how much I love her" Everyone in our house calls her Anna. We all love her and feel she rounds out our life.
