My 15 min.of fame with Jimmy Buffett WHO DAT!

totally off-topic, but if anybody wants to see whether or not Jimmy Buffett is a MAJOR SAINTS FAN (the boy's from MOBILE, y'all...practically next door) check out this wild video of him sitting in on "Margaritaville" at a tailgate party we played last weekend... I'm the guy next to him in the funny trilby hat... any guitar geeks who are wondering where that AWESOME guitar tone is coming from its my cherished and battered 62 Danelectro pumping thru a Crate Vintage Club 50 tube amp...yes, vintage! always vintage!!!

this video has gotten over FIVE THOUSAND hits in just a few days! rock out parrotheads! my band: Creole String Beans - New Orleans, LA -

thanks, GM, an extreeemly talented bunch of 'Yats, and there just ain't no city like New Orleans in which to have a rockin' band! we are fortunate to have a 'lingua franca' of about three thousand GREAT songs from which to choose....

if you're wondering what a 'Yat' is, check out our site for a definition ;-)

Very cool!

What's the story - he was just hanging out, heard your band and jumped in?

Awesome!

Awesome!
Jimmy is long-time friend of Jazz Fest producer Quint Davis, who is a friend of the band and dragged him out under the overpasses to hang out and eat a few oysters (if you google/youtube 'buffett down unda tailgate sea cruise' etc you can see us doing "Sea Cruise" where a guy hands him a raw oyster on the half-shell (he's in-between verses) he gobbles it up and proceeds to sing the next verse while eating the oyster, which I think you need major sea-legs to accomplish!)...

I guess we passed-muster with Capn Jim, cause Quint came up and asked if he could sing a couple numbahs with us. Q suggested "Brown Eyed Girl". Nah, great song, over-done like a burnt-steak and no-N.O. content-value, how about the Huey Smith classic "Sea Cruise" for the son-of-a-son-of-a-etc? So he jumps up and rocks it and within SECONDS, I swear the crowd of a hundred or so swells to three hundred, at least. They came outta...I don't know where they came from but he sure pulled 'em! Lotsa girls, too, y'all, check out his lyrical twist on "looka these New Orleans cuties...over the years...etc" he just makes it up as he goes, its great..

Hey, Over, I WISH we were going to Miami, but our local rep is not quite there yet...have to do that NEXT Super Bowl Saints...

...although we're all waking at 4:30 a.m. tomorrow to go on the WWL (ch 4) Early Show (starts at 6 CST) and perform our lyrical invention "Hello Reggie" (tune: Hello Dolly) and possibly "Who Dat Nation" (tune: Groove Me) for the early rising coffee-holics....

Like everyone else here I'm caught up in a bad case of Saints Fever and been sittin' around changing lyrics to some of the songs we play, making them into Saints odes! My wife says she's gonna start calling me Weird Al Yanka-Rick

Thanks to all for nice comments and viewing, join the mail list!
