Most scenic "dump stations"

Just for fun.......thought I'd post a new topic of scenic proportion! How many of you have "dumped", and said, "wow, look at that view"! Well, we've done it, in Glacier NP (Many Glacier CG), and that's what I said! So all of you who are dumping in your travels........grab your camera.....and submit your favorite dump site! We'd like to hear from you!

Jim & Cheryl

Happy Dumping!

This tread may have to be revived from time to time because I don't imagine many of us have the camera out when we are dumping. But I'll give it some thought on our next trip which unfortunately isn't until August. And I agree with Buttercup...

I have to admit, when I'm dumping my usual thought is "Ewwww, are we done yet?". I'll have to make a point of looking up and taking in the scenery next time. Excellent challenge, Jim!

The most scenic this past trip would have to be Goulding's Campground at Monument Valley, UT.
Our site had sewer hookups. Unfortunately, the plastic ear of one side of my stinky slinky hookup to the trailer took the moment of dumping to give way, creating a different sort of "scene".
The view from the campground of the area was spectacular.

When you get a replacement for the stinky slinky adaptor. There is a company that makes them in Nylon insted of ABS, hence, they don't get brittle and snap off.
I got mine at Camping world, they have them in the Thetford sized adaptors.

I got a Thetford 45 degree fitting. I don't know what it is made from....I just needed it right now and the Airstream dealer in Lubbock, TX, Billy Sims Trailer Town, had the Thetford model. The one that broke was black ABS adaptor to a standard sized black ABS. The Thetford adaptor is what broke. I remember going that way because I could get the adaptor and the regular sized fitting for about 60% of the price of the Thetford connector.
I will check Camping World and buy a spare in nylon for when/if this one I bought when I got in fails. I just had to have one right now to dump when I got home to my personal dump station. Having my own pad site in the backyard at home is wonderful so I can pull out headed for home and not have to find a dump place before backing it in at home to unload.
Thanks for the trail tip.....and remember, always drink upstream from the herd.

I don't know about "scenery", so much, but last summer, we had a "forum rally" at the Jamaica State Park in VT. The campground itself was so heavily wooded, there wasn't much for grand scenic vistas, like the one's posted above. but the dumpstation itself was a sight to behold. You'd never know this was a dump if they hadn't posted a sign with an arrow pointing to the hole in the ground. the repository itself was a hole in the middle of a beautiful perennial garden. so it wasn't really background scenery...but foreground scenery. now I wish I had snapped a pic. But I do remember specifically thinking to myself at the time, "this is probably the nicest looking dump station I'll ever see".

Back when dumps were real and were not "sanitary landfills" I lived in the Adirondacks. When visitors would call from the Big Apple we often would take a trip to the local dump to watch the bears. After a while however my wife put a stop to my recreational visits to the dump. I would often return with more stuff than I left with. It was all good stuff and I will use it someday, really.
