Exclamation Messy Divorce- '70 Safari, '67 Overlander sales?

Just wondering where I might post on the forum a heads up to an unknown 3rd party who recently purchased from a female, artist on CA Central Coast:
1. 1970 Safari CA plate #1HN4XXX VIN H55FJ2300JXXX transferred in December 2015 with current registration and
2. 1967 Overlander CA black plate XX1228 VIN 1267 S276,2XXX sold unregistered & transferred between July & December 2015.

Both were transferred fraudulently and CA DMV will contact.

I have pictures, declarations, DMV documentation, Family court orders and misc. documentation to prove claims & will provide all, if contacted with a private message.

Please save yourself time, money and heartache before making our shattered dreams your big headache. Thank you

Sorry to hear about this - sounds like a lot of misery for everyone involved. I think you've effectively posted it here. Good luck.

You might also contact WBCCI units in your area as well as Airstream dealers.
You can get a complete list of dealers from Airstream.com - and they probably will refer you to the WBCCI Club units too.

There are many people who don't know about this forum. There was just a rally in the desert in CA. As I understand it the whole thing was put together by owners who posted on Instagram. Get an account and post.

Another place to check would be people who restore Airstreams. Area 51 is one such, I don't recall the names of the others... A google search of Airstream Restoration California might be productive.

I'm on the far end of the country, so I wouldn't expect either to show up in my neighborhood. But I will suggest that anyone on the forum let everyone who might spot these units know about this before they spend big bucks.

Sorry for your loss - hope you recover the damage at least financially.

Paula

My sympathies for anyone going through a divorce, but I think this raises a more general question. If a seller has a pink slip in his or her name, and the latest registration doesn't show any lien holder, is this really the buyer's problem? OTOH, nobody should buy a vehicle from a private party unless both of those items are present.

That's a good point, Dave, tho an owner who becomes aware that a trailer he has bought has been sold out from under a previous owner might want the opportunity to make it right in some way.

I do hope you have contacted your attorney, spottedeagle.

Spottedeagle, Take a deep breath. Divorce is a very emotional process for both sides. Try using a mediator@ 250.00 per hour instead of lawyers @ 500.00 per hour each. If you have kids please be civil in front of them. Arguing in front of them only destroys the ''greatest mom and dad'' image they have for you. You can replace the Airstreams, the kids are priceless. Work with your wife with the kids interest ahead of your own. A ''nice'' divorce... the family wins, a nasty divorce... the lawyers win $$$$$$. You need to be friends with your wife for the children's sake...visitation, vacations, holidays. Sorry to hear this, but think of divorce as a new beginning...Good luck.

Divorces are expensive because they are worth it to at least one party.

What price is freedom?

I have no idea why the new owner would want to "make it right" for the previous owner who was cut out of the deal. They may be victims of a fraud. This one will end up in court.

I would think selling something you have no right to sell is theft. The purchaser is guilty of receiving stolen property and would have that property confiscated at their loss.

I don't think it is stolen property if it was community property.
