Memorial Day
So, anyone going camping over Memorial Day?
I am planning to visit KARS park in Merritt Island, FL. It's a park for Govt employees and has waterfront sights (power/water) for under $25. But they don't take reservations. I'm hoping to get out of work early on Thursday and get there in time to secure a spot. Wish me luck!
I just found that members are able to set up an "organized group event" to bring in a large number of guests. I think there's about 20 RV spots. I might just have to think about hosting a rally in the future And you can reserve the bon fire ring/area for $15. Might be good idea for the fall.

Were attending/hosting the Rally at Rend Lake, IL. Great pavilion and fire ring. Very open and mature trees.
I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend.

We're heading out on Wednesday to our permanent site at Penn Wood for an extra long weekend. Hopefully we will avoid the mad holiday weekend rush.
Everybody have a safe and happy Memorial Day.

Oh, boy, I wish we could leave! We're facing a whole slug of mountain bikers over Memorial Day, all here for the "Chili Challenge" (part of the mountain states cup). It's fun, but I'd just as soon be elsewhere!

We are headed to the White Mountains of Arizona with my fly fishing club. We have a gigantic group site reserved at Hawley Lake on the Apache Reservation. We did this last year, maybe the weather will be a little better this year...

We may be heading out to Ellie Rays, on the Santa Fe river. We take the A/S and our boat, which takes 2 trips, but it is only 20 miles. Depends on what the vet says about my dog tomorrow. Her face is swollen from something, possibly a bee sting.

Badger Flats, rain or shine, I need some tree time. Leaving Thursday after work at 2130 hours. Hope the camp isn't too muddy.

In order to avoid traffic, on Memorial Day weekend we stay pretty close to home and camp at Cunningham State Park near Thurmont, MD, about 15 miles south of Gettysburg as a point of reference. It's also just a couple of miles from Camp David. This is generally the only weekend of the year that we stay this close (about 20 miles from home) but the traffic around here on holiday just gets crazy. Hopefully the weather will cooperate as it has been rainy all month.
I hope everyone has a good time. Hopefully we we will bear in mind what the weekend is all about and the price others have paid so we can have fun!

We'll spend the holiday weekend preparing to leave the day after Memorial Day (to avoid holiday traffic), taking off to Davis Mts. State Park in West Texas. Never been. Hope it's nice. Our first foray to TX with the Bambi.

As I stated earlier, we headed to Hawley Lake for the holiday weekend again this year. The weather was cool and we had some rain and a little hail, but for the most part the week end was great. One morning I caught 24 trout from my float tube, all were in the 12" range. On the trip back to Phoenix on Monday we stopped at Ponderosa Shadows (Airstream Park) in Slow Low Arizona to vist some friends and to check out the park.

Beautiful spot ... and nice catch! My dad brought me a rod/reel over the weekend but it was too windy for me to do anything with it. Next time maybe.
