Mass Fuel Tax Rebate

There is some relief on gas prices for travelers on the Massachusetts Turnpike in the form of a gas tax rebate. If you purchase your gasoline in Massachusetts and travel on the Massachusetts Turnpike, you are eligible to receive a state gas tax refund. To do so, you must save your gasoline and Turnpike receipts or FAST LANE statements and fill out the appropriate form from the state Department of Revenue. For more information and questions, please call the Massachusetts Department of Revenue at (800) 392-6089 or visit their website for more information.

Has anyone done this yet? Tell us about your experience.

Sounds kinda complicated. Why don't they simply suspend the tax for some period of time. Here in Jawja, the Gov'na just suspended the state tax on all gasoline thru the end of September. No weird paperwork to fill out.

How quickly we forget how pi$$ed we were when we saw $2.00 per gallon. The price should be back down between $1.00 and $1.25. That's what is was when all this gouging got started.

Other companies are joining in. Our local natural gas company (Vectren (Ohio)) said to expect 70% higher heating bills this winter. They didn't say anything about a price hike, they just said they are expecting a colder winter than last year. It was record cold here last year! It's going to be 70% colder?!?!?!?!? I don't need to worry about my heat bill, I need to worry about my flesh instantly freezing when I crack the door to grab the mail!

These big companies sicken me. They're going to keep picking and picking until people can't afford to do anything, then the whole shebang is going to crash.

Ok...I'll take a breath now.

Chris, sounds like the same nonsense that went on here in Georgia a few days after the hurricane. People made a mad rush for gas and stations sold out, prices went up quit a bit. The day before the storrm I paid $2.45. Five days later it was up to as much as $3.39/gal. It has settled back down to around $2.60/$2.70 here in Georgia. Part of this is due to the fact the State government here has suspended the $.15/gal gasoline tax until the end of the month.

Where you going this trip? Back to Florida? You can expect to pay a bit more there for gas. Maybe as much as $.35/40 cents a gallon. Somebody that lives in Florida will chime in here, I'm sure.

BTW, why is England "out of gas"? It's the AMerican oil fields that are affected right now. Don't y'all get most of you petrol from the North Sea and the Middle East?

Take care.
Jim

Tax-a-sota... NOT!

Hey y'all -- we suffer when we're on our roads and bridges because gas tax hasn't been raised in just under 20 years. Never thought I'd be saying this, but I give credit to Jesse Ventura for stating outright that the day after you open new lanes they are in gridlock. Even before Richard Nixon imposed the double-nickel speed limit it has been understood we were paying much less per gallon/liter than the rest of the developed countries. Remember how empty the roads became just a month ago...? Too bad you can't tow 'silver' on a hybrid...

Gas is in the mid-$2.7x range here, but was almost $.25 higher in Wisconsin last weekend! Most fuel here is imported from hurricane & so far politics-proof Canada.

Come on down to Minnetonka. It's down to $2.59 yesterday.

Or, do you want me to fill a couple of jugs for you?

Update: Right now the Oasis down the road is $2.49.

Susan & Jim...

Hi S & J...
Panic buyin... jus plain stupid buyin it & storin it up, but 2day I saw the 4 garages I pass on My way 2 work, OPEN displayin signs, ALL services open... then Next week the Guvd: R droppin 4 pence a litre off, wow, that's mighty kind of them... Our gas is abt $1.60 a LITRE, NOT GALLON, so yrs will B quite CHEAP, compared 2 what we have 2 pay... on 9 gallons I only get abt 300-320 miles, & it's only a 1300cc ( 1.3 ) engine...Grrr
9 weeks 2day when We come over 2 Fla: ( 17th Nov ) for our 6th visit 21-nite vacation... YIPPEEEE..... LOL, Gee DO I need this Holiday, U bet I DO, well We ALL need it, My Youngest changed 500 sterlin in2 Dollars & got $858, She realy pleased, she tryin 2 sweet talk Me in2 roundin it off 2 a $1000 for Her...LOL, I told Her She gotta B kiddin, with the cost of GAS...LOL ( I WILL tho, Don't tell Her ...LOL )
What reamins a mystery 2ME is, Y R different garages chargin different prices, Y can't things B like I think they should, all the SAME items the same price, all over the country, say BREAD, if it's $1 at Wally World, then EVERY shop in ALL the States should charge a Dollar..& so on... My Mom, bless Her, used 2 walk ALL over the place in our main Town, 'cos some shops were cheaper than others... but it used 2 cost Her MORE in Shoe Leather...LOL, I strongly believe that Essential FOODS & FUEL, should B at a set LOW price, Over here We have an Increase of Un-Insured, Non MOT, & Un Taxed road Vehicles, simply because some people think that the " TAXES " on Fuel, Etc: R far 2 high, so they don't bother abt the Legal side of drivin a Vehicle, which is all very well until they come unstuck, & U end up findin the Guy who jus rammed U has NO insurance, I KN, it happened 2 Me...& it aint Fair nor Funny..., Kinda makes Me MAD when certain people jump on the band wagon, as it were, & take advantage of the poor lttl Guy like Myself, & U, jus 2 make a quick buck, & kinda get it when U can I'm all right, sod U attitude... Some people get richer on others downfalls...& it's abt time it was stopped, what U fink ???... Chris.....

Exclamation What, not recognized?

Bob, Susie & the pups!
Went to the site and started entering data ... and apparently the AAA doesn't even recognize a V-10 Excursion.

Hey! No fair!! They don't have the Nissan Titan either. But I don't know they're going to figger fuel anyway. I get 14.7mpg combined, almost 17mpg highway, but only 10.5mpg towing. It's a start at least...

You can click on the See More Fuel Costs in Your Area link to get a better idea. (see 'Select a Market' at top)

Take it with a grain of salt...

Look at it in a relative sense -- from you to your destination at least. They actually have my community -- regular gas is $2.66 "today." I don't know what it is out on the freeway -- and this may not be an inaccurate number. But here in town prices are a lot closer to $2.40 a gallon.
