Life and death of a thread

I may have missed a step or two here, but this is what it might seem like. Maybe this could be a sticky so newbies to the forum can set expectations. 😃 Sharing so we might have a laugh at ourselves (we've all been one of these responses at one time or another so no offense intended!).

Life and death of a thread

OP: asks for opinion on best (thing)

#1: welcoming response. Warning of opinions to come. Encouraging salutation.

#2: welcoming response. Sharing of strongly held opinion. Encouraging salutation. Happy emoticon.

#3: sharing of strongly held opinion.

#4: sharing of strongly held opinion.

#5: sharing of strongly held opinion. Challenge of #3's opinion. Insertion of "brows" emoticon.

#6: sharing of strongly held opinion. Encourage trip to Canada.

#7: offer empirical evidence against Canadian solution.

#8: warn of legal liability for going against strongly held onion. Relate anecdote from authoritative friend/relative.

#9: request official citation for claim in #8.

#10: hurl insult at #9.

#11: blame China.

#12: insert hyperlink to authoritative PDF. Include parable supporting position.

#13: recommend getting back to OP. Note OP no longer seems to be involved in discussion. Warn of mod action.

#14: inject comment completely unrelated to discussion at hand.

#15: recommend each person decide for themselves. Wish happy camping.

#16: hurl insult at authors of replies 4-14.

#17: switch mod_hat=on: close thread

Ha! That's a scream! I love "brows", BTW. Try a specific example to better illustrate the point. How about axles or tires?

HaHa and Luv it,
I agree in so many ways, and waiting for those whose toes are stepped on to chime in! Just like to watch. U know! Oops, wife said I should not have said that. Sorry. I hope it does not "kill the thread."

Optional:

Blame EPA, IRS, CIA, IGA, CYA, Democrats, Republicans, Martians, for the fact that you cannot buy a 100% American Made tow vehicle that produces 800# of torque and gets 40 miles per gallon while emitting nothing more noxious than a butterfly fart.

That's just plain funny. But pretty darn true.

You can't tow with that!

In my experience, "Encourage trip to Canada" and "hurl insult" come earlier, probably both before #5. Very accurate otherwise

So where does the inflammatory mention of firearms for defense on the road come in?

One or two posts after the opinion that anyone who is towing their Airstream with anything smaller than a Peterbilt is a menace to society.

Thanks for laugh SteveSueMac!

I'd add: sarcastic comment regarding laws of physics being different in Canada

Is it JiffyPop over a campfire? That can be dangerous, you know. Too much oil in the aluminum pan from the factory. Make sure there's a Canadian Fire Brigade apparatus standing by to rush across the border for an assist.

Look at any of the forum directories. . . scroll down to bottom of page. Better yet, go a few pages back. A veritable catacomb of dead threads.

Every now and then someone does a search and replies to a thread they turned up without noticing that the previous post was somewhere around 2003. The thread then becomes a "zombie thread", undead until it sinks back to the bottom.
