Only when towing a 34' with a VW Golf diesel and custom hitch, in which case they can be 10 years or older if they are 16" LTs.

I think it's kind of sad.
So many people are terrified of the mechanical world around them and can only project their fears, over and over into threads they know nothing about. Then the mods step in and by fiat, eliminate the the thread entirely. So that ultimately there is no sarcasm, no arguments, no dissent and no contention.
And everyone has exactly the same opinions on everything. Everyone has the same trailer, the same compulsions, obsessions, the same fears, the same oversized tow vehicle, 2.3 children plus dog and cat, the same bank account, interests, beige curtains, blue sweat pants and the same opinions on politics, gun control, and cookie cutters.
Like our own little version of the Stepford Wives.

5.3.3 claim that the US is the most litigious country in the Western world.

(It isn't, that dubious honour belongs to Germany. The US barely makes the top five, after Sweden, Israel and Austria, just beating out the UK and Denmark.)

It would not be a thread on Air Forums unless it gets hijacked at least 3 times. #14 should be bumped up to #5 then sprinkled throughout.

I believe you are simply wrong about this, Ultradog.

There is plenty of sarcasm, argument, dissension and contention here.....but limits as to how far one can go, and that is for good reason.

I also disagree that we are all the same. There is a great deal of diversity, actually, and a full range of opinion and approach to most everything.

You are not reading enough threads, in my opinion.

Ultradog does have a point, there is a strong and ever increasing expectation of a kind of conformity.

Either you are being sarcastic or you're projecting your fears onto a thread you know nothing about. Either way, very clever!

Here is what I do not understand:

People who know nothing about the design/development/testing of a vehicle casually advice other folks to ignore the manufacturer ratings. They usually have some anecdotal evidence that its going to be "fine" doing so.

Others warn that ignoring the manufacturer ratings may not be a good idea. They are immediately labeled as fear mongers/trolls/etc.

Where has common sense gone?

A lot of this ugliness and bickering could be prevented if the original poster was a bit more clear about the answers they are really looking for.

I have come to the conclusion that 90 percent of the treads that sound like "I want to try to do XXX, what do y'all think?" can be translated to "I am GOING TO DO XXX, and want your encouragement." I am probably guilty of starting threads in this way myself. Anyway, I am trying harder to interpret the OP's real intention and only be encouraging when requested, and silently untroubled otherwise.

The other side of that coin might be that it is anti common sense to say something that has been done for decades cant be done.

While a person does not have to agree with this position, but it should be acknowledged nonetheless.

I fancy myself an armature student of science. One of the things that has become clear is that virtually all of science (excepting "pure mathematics") is ultimately based on empirical evidence.
