I figure I would spend at least 20-bucks on books every year trying to figure out how & the heck to do something I can read about here! And if I don't understand - it's interactive, don't get that with a book!

-good story, Andy. sounds like your 'heels are square', as they say in Texas.
I ponied up the 20 bucks 'cause I got more value than that the first week I started reading here. I mean, the information you get for renovating would be so incredibly difficult to compile, if you even COULD compile it, it would take forever. A bargain, really.
-plus I made some friends and acquired an obession.
-oh, and found a cult I could actually belong to...
-but I still ain't got my sticker, dude!

They may not be accurate since he's basing his statements on his best guess. That said, he was at one point a poster on this site and IMHO only I felt he added minimal if any value to the majority of threads he posted to. It was my impression that if you didn't agree with him you were an idiot.
I was actually kind of PO'd when I read that other fellows site because he could potentially influence people who would otherwise receive and add good knowledge to this forum and instead may stay clear of it. If you didn't know any better and hadn't already spent time on this forum to realize the huge value it provides it's members you might just believe the story.
Yeah, AndyR makes some money off this site and he should. Hopefully as, or if, he acquires additional websites he'll be able to generate enough to live comfortably while focusing on migrating each of them up to the caliber of this site which I'd say is one of the premier sites of this type on the web. Heck, maybe he'll even add a few more Airstreams to his stable, placed around the country, so he can attend some of the Airforums rallies and we can thank him personally for providing us with a great way to share our passion for aluminum.

Another statement of appreciation, Andy R, and not the first from me, for this site, the knowledge and friendships it has provided, and for the insight provided by your "story." I don't think it could have been easy to turn your life inside out to the light of this forum, open for all to read. You tell an incredible saga of how this site emerged and how your lifestyle continues to evolve as you pursue your interests and dreams. I'm glad you still have your Bambi and hope we actually do meet round a campfire someday, though that would have to be here in the USA! I'm very glad each April when my re-up date comes around to contribute in support of this forum and the work that creates it. ~G

Andy, I cannot thank you enough for this forum. I contributed to this site because of the the information that is here. I know that I saved time and money by going to this one web site. I think it's great that you can live the life style that many of us have dreamed of doing and run a business from so many different places in the world. I hope that you continue to profit by providing a service that is needed by so many of us.
Thanks again,

I finally got over to the other site and read the owners opinion of Andy R and the way this site is handled. He didn't lie but he sure has a spin to his opinion. I guess I could write the same thing about someone finding and reselling vintage trailers. I did read some of his post on TCT and he was polite and seemed to answer the questions correctly, I guess he didn't like the Airfourms sticker. Andy if you are now a millionaire enjoy it and I am glad my clicks got you there.

My only complaint about Andy is that I'm jealous that I didn't think of this first! But then again, why should I complain? When I was 50 I was able to stop working ... forever!
Andy, you go dude! You've built a really nice business and you deserve to make all the money you can! Hopefully you'll know what it's like to retire early too!
If I'm not mistaken, every time we click on one of the google ads here it puts a few cents more into the Social Knowledge account. I'll try to make sure I click on some of them every day.
As a matter of fact, I want to put an Air Forums sticker on the back window of my trailer when I get it in May. I think I'll go on PayPal and upgrade my membership now.

I guess that answered that
Again....I said that I really like this Forum and the work done by its creator and owner. My question...not an acquisation of any sort.....was generated by the diatribe on another site...a site which I really like too. I could not equate the two after reading those comments. Then I looked at the dollars generated by BOTH advertising and my $50.00 bucks a year (yours too???) I still think its worth it and a great job is being done by many active folks (Moderators) to provide this link to our Airstreams. Some here took this discussion in a direction WAY out of line. Good job Andy....now get to work on your Bambi.....(I saw it this week too.)

Thanks
Andy,
I will add my gratitude for hosting such a great site.......it has provided all the information I have ever needed (and more) on all things Airstream.
I really enjoyed your summary of how the site evolved, and especially your travels. During my military career, I was stationed overseas a total of 15 years........what an "eye opening" experience.......enjoy it for all its worth! Obviously, you write well......so jot down notes on your adventures....it will help you relive them later, or you may consider publishing something in the future.
I haven't visited the other mentioned sites....and probably won't. Since you spent some time in Thailand......the saying goes like this....."My Pin Li, Kup."
Have a local brew for me.
Chief
