Weigh the benifits, understand the importance

There is no other destination that Airstreamers, Club Members, and bystanders can share the wonderful world of Airstream.

Free speech sometimes leads to controversy, heated exchanges, but when the end of the day comes...everyone is richer for learning the many sides to questions.

I don't understand the importance of some of the comments made on the forum. Because the "whys" leading to the comments aren't clear. But learning about the extremes of emotions, are thoughts are illuminating.

Thank you airstreamforum.com for discussions, information, and friendships.

Hey, I do have a question, though. Maria and I were thinking last night that we should send some money to support the forums, but I'll be darned if I can remember where to send it, who to make the check out to, all that. Was there a thread recently (or not so recently) about this? Anybody know?

Lynn

Every 3rd or 4th time you click on portal view you will see an icon in the upper right corner that says "AIR STICKERS now available" thats where you can upgrade.

As AndyR mentioned, no one seems to have a problem with the owners of Airstream dealerships, parts suppliers, or Airstream Life "making money" off of our passion for Airstreams so I don't see the problem here.

AndyR has made certain lifestyle choices so that he can devote his life to web forums. Those lifestyle choices probably wouldn't fit our mainstream ideas of life for Americans (idealistic or not) but full timing wouldn't fit my ideal lifestyle either so I'm not sure of the issue here either.

Usually, when someone complains it is because they don't understand or because they have insufficient information to understand. Thanks for the background lesson AndyR.

Andy,
I enjoyed your story and perspective.
This site has been a tremendous help to me, initially when my Safari was totaled due to an inattentive truck driver, then while I was searching for and ultimately found my vintage trailer, then later as I tweaked the GT and maintained it.
I support what you have done and continue to do.
Dave

It is wonderful to see someone who focuses on what he wants to do and finds a way to do it AND enjoy life at the same time! GREAT job, Andy, and thank you for posting your information! It was quite interesting. Safe and happy travels!

On a side note, every time I come across forums on line that look like this one, I'm always like, "Look! It's the AirForums program!"

This forum costs nothing unless you volunteer to pay, provides wonderful information, and great contact. Pretty hard to beat.

Andy, thanks for making it work and continue to work, but that means work on your part. I have always thought that pay for work is appropriate. Volunteer work is fantastic, but it does require a means of support.

Good luck on your Bambi restoration. Just one word of advice, put in a toilet. No matter how good campground facilities are, they are very far away in an "emergency" .

Andy -- I found myself at North Dallas RV a couple of weeks ago getting a few things taken care of on my trailer, so the manager took me on a quickie tour of the place and showed me some of the trailers he's currently working on.

Your Bambi, I believe, was the first one he showed me -- looks like it's progressing right along. They are the friendliest crew I've come across since taking up the Airstream way of life, and they do great work for very good prices.

Keep up the good work on this forum -- to call it helpful would be a gross understatement. It's been invaluable. I, too, have read the rant over on the TCT site, and I had to laugh ... we should all be so lucky to pursue our passions in exchange for a little profit and an ejoyable way of life.

Andy - a hearty "well done!" for what you've been able to carve out for yourself in this world, and a heartfelt "thanks!" for the community that has been created here for us. A heckuva deal at twice the price!

Don't get any ideas about that last part.. LOL That's a joke. No really!

I figure I would spend at least 20-bucks on books every year trying to figure out how & the heck to do something I can read about here! And if I don't understand - it's interactive, don't get that with a book!
