Kayaks and Airstreams

I know a few of you out there have yaks, just thought I would try and start a thread that everyone could add a pic of their kayak.
I'll start with my 2 Chesapeake Light Craft homebuilts.
The small one is a 14 , the larger a 17LT.
The 14 got wet at Lake Tahoe last August, the 17 last week at the Russian River.
Thanks to Rollertoaster for the water shot!

Tim,
I'll post some photos of mine later, what am I seeing in that second photo? Resting on a small table? Suspended from the awning? How do you keep it from scratching?
Beautiful boats you have there. Mine are plastic, yours will make them look sick....

Tim, those are really nice kayaks. Thanks for giving me the chance to try out
the 17 footer. It was amazingly easy to paddle, and tracked like it was on rails. You really got me thinking about these Chesapeake Bay boats.

More pics

I know there are more of you "yakers" out there!!
Here are a few more pics, and, yes I also have a plastic tandem- the "sea swine" or "paddle pig". It's nice for those hot days when you can just slip into the water and get back onboard easily. It doesn't jump on top of the Burb tho.
So come on folks-m lets compile some water shots!! DG

Doorgunner,
I see you live in Lodi... would you be interested in going on a mini-caravan or rally for a surf and/or kayak trip???? We are always looking for people close by! My dad lives in Stockton and he just bought an Airstream B-Van so he can tag along.

Hey DG! Those are some great photos. Your yaks are awesome.
So, where are you on that shot of LL near the water/pier/boat docks? Is it a lake?

Sorry to disappoint you. No kayaks yet. Two sailboats; a Flying "J" , and a Banshee. Too many toys and a too little space. Our son is on the UCSB Men's rowing team and trains at Lake Cachuma.

Wish we could rally there! Too far to haul with diesel prices in California at $4.50 per gallon.

I've taken my kayak to a few forums rallys, including this one in Wenatchee, WA. Took it out on the Columbia River in a quiet estuary for it's 2nd outing. Still learning the ins and outs of this craft! Lots of fun!

Here's mine,Tim! The first shot is Jan at San Antonio Lake. Her Kayak is a 12.5 Perception Caster fishing Kayak. She really likes the rudder as it gives her more stability in the wind.

The second shot is her again, and my feet on Morro Bay. My kayak is a 13 Ocean Kayak Big Game Prowler fishing kayak. I love it.

The other two shots are the kayaks as they ride on top of the F250. I use Thule racks to haul them, but I need a short stepladder to tie them on. I can load and unload them myself though.

Tim,
I think the only pics I have of my yaks are on the pick-up roof rack. Whenever I'm in the water with any of them, I don't have a camera.
You'll have to wait until I get back on the water and someone has a camera.
Or settle for a shot of them hanging in the garage...
Dave

starting to get some nice shots!!

This is just the beginning and we're getting some good pics already! Getting pics while paddling is at times difficult! Unless you have a Hobie foot powered tandem yak as janetb and terry! That thing wails, I was paddling steady as they were seemingly just pumping about. Terry was snapping pics left and right, up down whatever. And I did not get a pic of them!

Brian, I've been messing around for hours setting my 256 colors thing on the control panel trying to get violet that color, thanks for letting me know I've got some monitor issues! Guess I'll have to get a geek squader in here to check things out.
One more pic of the new design yak-rak for airstreams I'm working on.

As you can see from my first picture we take a somewhat less stressful approach to kayaking. There is a complete chronicle of the construction of my kayak noted in my signature.

Doorgunner,
Great concept there on the YakRak.

One un-named member here has been pressuring me to post photos of my kayaks, so here goes. These guys are obviously in storage - I don't have, or can't find, any pics with them on the water. I'll look more...

These are all Ocean Kayaks brand, A "Scupper Pro" 14', a "Drifter" fishing boat 12.5' and a "Frenzy" which is around 9'.

Not the greatest photo and no A/S but this is what we have, Necky Looksha's. This was my first trip out with a camera in the boat.

We hope to take the kayaks to the falluminum in November. Then we should be able to get a kayak / Argosy photo.
